Honda 300 electrical outlet
« on: December 06, 2011, 11:14:31 AM »
My 91 Honda 300 has an outlet on the handle bar that something can be plugged into.  Problem is, I have never seen a matching plug.  Was thinking of using this outlet a an easy access when I need to recharge the battery.
Where can I obtain a plug to match my power outlet?

I imagine they probably had spotlights and all that would plug into them. I never saw anyone who used the little port. Googling it, looks like they are about $20. It may be cheaper and easier just to buy a 2 wire pigtail. Wire it to the battery and have it zip tied to the frame.

I agree with you 100%.  I've already wired a trickle charger to it.  This weekend when I go back to deer camp I will put in a pigtail.
I put a similar pigtail on a generator.  Learned the hard way to wire it so that the plug coming off the generator has the ground on the male side and the hot on the female side - even though the color coding is backward.  Otherwise, the male pole can touch the frame and ground out.
Funny how many things in life you learn the hard way.  The mind is a terrible thing.

I bought a solar battery charger from harbor freight and mounted under the rack on mine. It is a 2001 and has the original battery. So I think the solar panel has made it last. A friend has the same model and is on his 3rd battery now. He said the last was $75 and this one was $125 at walmart. I would imagine trickle charging it will save you money in the long run.
