I have always like the 696 but after they went out of production they went crazy on price.  I had a 686 in the safe so I ordered a barrel, cylinder assembly and 5 shot hand the results are my 686 / 696 44 special.

That is a wonderful conversion.  A perfect use of the "L" frame as a 44 spl. platform.

Very nice! I have been looking for the barrel and cylinder but seems like everybody is sold out of them now.
