Good Deal - Bad Deal???
« on: December 10, 2011, 08:58:18 AM »
So I am new to the forum and have just started down the Handi rifle path.  Not new to shooting, reloading, hunting but I can see how this handi rifle thing can be addictive.
My question is about a local deal.  It includes the following:  A stainless survivor frame, a stainless 270 barrel with tasco scope, a 223 barrel, a 357 mag barrel with tasco scope, a stainless 12 ga modified and a 12 ga turkey barrel for $500.  All of these are in like new condition.  What do you think?
Handis: .17 mach2 (x2), .22 lr, 22 hornet, .22 jet, .223, .243, .270, .280, .357 max (x2), 35 remington, 35 whelen, 45-70, 445sm, 30-30, 410, 500 S&W, 50 AK

What would you rather have 2 years from now?  The handi-rifle set   ;D   and all the fun with shooting and reloading for them.  Or the  $500.     I'd buy'em.   3leg

Go for it, but don't be afraid to talk them down in price, the survivor frame is matte nickel, not SS, the 357mag and 12ga are also likely matte nickel, I don't think either has ever been made in SS,  the 270 has definately been made in SS tho no longer is. The only SS frame ever made is on the SS Ultra Hunter 45-70 and 444 Marlin, first offereed in 2008.  ;)

lay 3 100 dollar bills on the counter and start stacking 20's up to your limit.  Worth it? yes, could the price be better yes, but not by much. (I'd try for a low ball offer around $350 and see if they can deal) If not you can always sell off what you don't want.

Thanks for all the responses.  I snagged it.  Is it wrong to buy two handi rifles in one week?   :D   My wife thinks so but she will get over it. Let the fun begin...

Thanks for the heads up.  It is an SB2 receiver.  First question I asked the guy.  I will check it our and make sure before money swaps hands.  I found the pics on here of what each one looks like.
