Reaming 44 to 445 Supermag?
« on: December 10, 2011, 12:39:23 PM »
I wonder if the cylinder is long enough on my FA 44 Magnum to ream the cylinder to accept 445 Supermag brass? Anybody know?

Pretty sure it's not even close--Just take a look at a DW cylinder

The 445 SM case, is .325 or 3/8 th inches, longer than the 44 Mag.  The cylinders on my DW Super Mags measure 2.07 inches long. Hope this helps.

My standard .44 Mag. load runs a 240 @ 1550, and a 300 @ 1400 fps from my 7 1/2" 83, and a bit more could be squeezed out if a person wanted to work at it.
Standard DW Super Mag loads don't better that by much, and many barely equal it ... and do it with that loooong cylinder. For the person who feels they want more velocity than the 83 .44 Mag. is capable of delivering, I suggest a .454.
