ruger 10/22 action

Does anyone know where I can get a new or used 10/22 action.  I am wanting to build a nice heavy barrel 22 but don't want to buy a new 10/22 for the action only.  Does anyone know if you can even get the action only?  thanks

You can get a new 10/22 carbine from WalMart for $149 then sell the barrle and stock on Ebay. You'll come out cheaper than buying an action.
I've got 3 of them in varying configurations like this one.  2 with Whiteface Mountain 16'' fluted barrels and one with Volquartson foreward weighted barrel.

Yup, Walker told you right.  Walmart 10/22's are the best bet for a Ruger made build-up.  I was looking on-line for an action myself and discover that after the cost + s/h + transfer, I was spending more than just buying at Walmart.

Got one last year from Wallymart.  Grabbed the standard carbine for 140.00 with the intention of adding a barrel/stock combo.  The combo I went with was the 97.00 special from the place in AZ (J&G??) that included the Clerke (not clark) 16" blued with a Hogue OM.  I know some want a more uptown barrel maybe for strict competion where groups are measured in .100's of an inch but the one I have is used for plinking, benching and hunting.  This thing always gets the attention from my shooting buddies and will outshoot anything brought to the range we use.

Great deal and I'd do it again.

Where can I get a deal on a 10/22 magnum?  I asked at the local Walmart and got a goofy look.  I want to make a 17HMR tack driver just like my current 10/22.

Just wait a little bit when the 10/17 is released!
