Under lug question.
« on: December 12, 2011, 02:49:42 PM »
I've seen questions about under lugs in the centerfire area but i couldn't help wondering if the rules were different for muzzleloaders. I have acquired a .45 barrel with a 1/28 twist and, just to see if he could do it, had a friend machine an under lug for me. It came out great! So my question is, since the breach plug will be threaded in the barrel relieving stress from the breach, is it possible to silver solder the under lug to the barrel?

Yes, it would be no problem, earlier H&R's all had the underlug silvered on, even the center fire rifle barrels like the 30-30.  Larry
