I've always used Clover 1000 grit grease for lapping - still have the bottom of a can I bought about 35-40 years ago.   Its been so long since I bought it I don't remember where, but probably from a precision machine supply company.   Automotive repair supply companies would have it, but more likely in 500 or less grit, as would gunsmith supply houses.

Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus
