Good news for gun owners.

Good news for gun owners. Notice that stories like this always seem to imply that the demand is increasing because the cops can't be relied on as a deterrent.

Last week when I was in Tennessee, the TV news station played a  911 call.  An elderly woman called 911 saying a man was breaking into her home.  911 said stay calm and stay on the phone with me.  The caller said: "No, I'm going to get my gun".  The 911 said "No don't do that".  Too late the old lady had gone to get her gun.  then the old lady came back on the phone saying:  "He's breaking a window, and going to crawl through into my home".  "If he does I'm going to shoot him".  911 says, "No don't shoot, don't shoot, the police are on their way!  The lady says, "He's put his foot down in my living room, I'm gonna shoot him".  BOOM.  911:  "You did not shoot him did you"?  Lady, "Yes I did, right center of his chest, there's blood everywhere, I killed him, blew him right back out that window"!  "Gosh, I hope it's not someone I know".

Local Police says no charges are pending.  Evidence of the guy being inside the house when he was shot.  Foot prints and blood spatter inside the home.  Local Sheriff said "More elderly people should learn to take care of problems like this.  Criminals would think better of going after elderly folks".

END OF STORY!!!!!

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

I hope the 911 operator was fired. That was horrible advice that would have resulted in a very different outcome if the woman had been sheepish enough to follow it. "Cops are on the way" gimme a break. Was there any indication of how much longer it was before the cops arrived? If it was more than about 10 seconds, it would have been way too long.

It also calls into question the training these people receive. If it's a systemic policy issue, then it needs to be fixed right now. And you can bet if it happened there, it will happen most anywhere else if it is a policy issue.

Different states different laws, but here in Oklahoma she would have been justified in what she did with no need to be concerned other than getting the blood cleaned up.

Back on topic I saw a couple different news clips on similar occurences around the country.
People realize they can't depend on the cops to protect them.
So they're doing it themselves.

Realistically the 911 operator can't say: "OK go ahead and shoot".

I agree. Definitely risky. They were docile on the journey back, and one was still so weak it was carried in a wheelbarrow. I didn't post the rest of the pictures because there were people that may not want to be shown on the web. The deer were like petting zoo animals. Aside from being exhausted, they were shivering. I think I would have put them in the dinghy and towed them back.

Telling her not to was bad advice too though. What if she followed that advice and the guy killed her?
If he's carrying a singleshot, don't expect a warning shot!
