6.5 creedmoor

I've been looking into the two new 6.5's (grendel and creedmoor, two different animals) and I have to say i am intrigued to say the least.
 
On paper the Creedmoor seems to be the "do everything" cartridge, excluding dangerous game. Does anyone have first hand experience with this round? I mean, mild recoil, great accuracy, great ballistics....am i missing something?
 
I would be interested to see how the Creedmoor does out of a 20" barrel.

     No experience with it, manufacturers are slow to market the creedmore with all the fan fare and articles out on the rifle and it's wonderfull qualities, don't know what the problem is. The only two I've seen so far is a savage model 10/110 hunter wiht a 1 in 8 twist for heavier bullets and a ruger 77 hawkeye or Nuber 1 with a 1 in 8 twist. I know you can get a custom job but I prefer factory cut chamber for stadardization. Id like to see a model 70 featherweight myself.

I got a Hawkeye a while back and just now picked up a set of dies--just had too many other calibers on the "front burner" for a while.  Couldn't figure out why the RCBS FL dies ran $20 more than the average set of FL dies, guess it has to do with demand, tooling to make 'em, etc.  My Hawkeye has a 26" barrel, while the catalog shows a 24 for the Creedmoor caliber.  Not sure how that came to be, but it does really well with the Hornady factory 129 grain rounds.

I have a 260 Remington, a plain Jane, slower 6.5mm Encore rifle and love its performance on whitetail deer.  I chose the 260 Rem. over the .243, 7-08, 308, etc. due to better ballistic coefficient and sectional density advantages although the deer do not know the difference..
 
The only criticism of the 6.5 creedmoor that I have heard is the shorter barrel life due to bullets of higher velocity burning the barrel..  Only heard of this from reading different forum posts.

I don't know why anyone would think the 6.5 Creedmoor would have a shorter barrel life. It was designed to shoot a moderate velocities and pressures and have a longer barrel life. Perhaps you are thinking about the 6.5x284?

I wonder if anyone from the "forums" would be able to explain that one to us? For example, how would it "burn" a barrel quicker than the slightly larger capacity 260.

nomosendero:  It could possibly be a combination of a sharper shoulder, faster buring powders and steeper lead-ins to the rifling for the Creedmore round that could accelerate barrel wear.  But, I'll bet the Creedmoor is more oriented to match performance than the 260, which could easily explain 'early wear' problems or concerns
 
I really enjoy the 6.5 bore.  My favorite is the Swede but I could easily be talked into a nice lightweight Remmy or Winny in 260 and set it up for Whitetail, Hog and even Black Bear.  I really oughta do something about that.....

I get on few other sites and post like most do.  I've seen post from the so called internet experts about the 6.5 Creedmoor and possible barrel burner just little better than the 243 on few sites.  I think some believe what they read  without having any real world experience shooting the 6.5 Creedmoor.

I think there more F-Class shooter using the 6.5 Creedmoor along with the 260 and others so it's got good following and that's the market it hit first.

I'm probably just as old and shoot 256 Newton and 6.5-06.
