Mitt Romney has a plan. A plan to solve the “immigration problem.” And it will come as no surprise to those following the GOP presidential debates that the answer of Romney — the former Governor of Massachusetts and father of the “individual mandate” — is more government.

Maybe I missed it but what good is a national ID card going to do when law enforcement isnt even allowed to check the immigration status of a susupected illegal now because its racist?

Here is what I see happening with a national ID card: the creation of a nationwide federal DMV type outfit that will spawn yet another bloated public employee union that taxpayers will have to foot the bill for and nothing more.

Then most already have a state ID and SS card , Most credit cards are tracked , your gps , your smart tag . There is already ways to track most Americans . A way to track illegals might be good . But not sure how.......

If youget rid of what is in the country and don't let any in you don't need tracking.

IMO The easiest and cheapest way is to make E-Verify compulsory.

Dunno about you guys but up here in the rarefied North, anyone that opens a Bank Account of any type has got to show your equivalent to a SS card and it is verified as far as I know.

Newt suggested the same thing, EXCEPT, he wants Visa to administer it with everyone getting a Visa idenity card. That way the government isn't involved with another bureaucracy.

You guys already have a national I.D. card. It's called a Drivers License. A lowly street officer can run the card thru his on-board computer in his unit, or he can call it in, and get all your info within minutes. I could do that before I retired 17 years ago. With the new camera phone attachments, they can do a facial scan, and within 18 inches of your face, a retinal scan, and the sweet part about it is, they are issuing them to street officers, and they don't need a search warrant to photograph you. All this wonderful info is then sent to a government FBI data base for a search, and then retained permanently without your approval, or in many cases your knowledge. So I wouldn't be too concerned about something as low tech as a National I.D. card. Ain't technology great? Trust your government boys! Their lookin out for ya!

All you have to do is come to New Mexico if you are illegal and they will give you a driver's license. Of course if you are a white guy it's slightly more difficult to get one. My son was born here and moved away. Moved back a few years ago. What really upset him was while he was spending about a month jumping through hoops to get a license he was watching people that couldn't speak one word of English come in, fill out their forms, and walk out with a driver's license. When he finally received his license it 's number was identical to the license he previously had when living here.

Our new governor tried to change all this in the last legislative session. The legislature just blew her off even though polls were showing that about 75% of people wanted it stopped.

If you really have low blood pressure, go to Laredo on welfare check day. They come across the border in droves to their "Texas mail box", and pick them up. Many times they go to small Mexican owned stores and buy alcohol and such with their welfare card but, get receipts of groceries. Viva La United States of AMERIKA!

"Commodities" (food) is handed out once a month here to those that QUALIFY. I don't know just what qualifies you for free food. I do know that the receipents show up in nice, shiny vehicles to pick it up. Lots of nice pickups and suvs. I've even seen a cadillac or two and a hummer one time.

In Alabama you have to have a birth certificate and a social security number to get a drivers license. It is a photo ID and has your date of birth on it. I think all states require this. For the elderly or those who opt out of driving, the same bureau can give you a non-drivers card with the same information. If everyone obtained a passport, it would be an id. Without a passport or proper drivers license it is easy to identify illegals unless they obtained an illegal passport or drivers license.

It sure as hell wouldn't do any good to try to have a national ID card with the present administration; Holder would shoot it down before the first card is issued.

However, I wouldn't be a bit against having some fool proof method of determining citizenship. I can't imagine a card that couldn't be counterfeited, or stolen and tampered with. I saw a brilliant Dumbycrat on TV who suggested that proof of citizenship should be a water bill. How about an IRS receipt. Ideas--we need ideas.

Some comedian said during the "mad cow" scare they assured us they could tell you where every cow and every piece of meat came from how it got to where it was going, when it was butchered etc. BUT they can't tell where the illegal aliens are. He said maybe we should give them each a cow...
