Crackhead caught trying to break-in home.
« on: December 21, 2011, 03:30:38 PM »
My hunting partner's daughter, (I've known her since she was born) got into a bad marriage.  Her husband turned out to be a crack head.  He stole and pawned everything he could to get drugs while they were married.  When she found out she got rid of him.  He kept coming back and interfeering in her life.  He did not care about the kids, he just used them to get back into her life.  After repeatedly causing her to lose her job, and all kinds of other grief, she got a restraining order for him to stay away from her and the kids permantely.  He lost all parential rights, the last time he was sent to prison.

Today the girls are 9 and 7.  She has remarried, and started a new life.  Her new husband loves the girls, and is a real father to them.  He has never met or seen the Ex.  We all think the world of this guy.  He is a very successful business man and author.

Last week her Ex was released from prison.  He was reminded by his probation officer, he was not to go near his former family.

Last night her new husband heard the motion detector going off.  They live up on the side of a mountain, in a heavily wooded area.  He has had Bear problems with bears coming up onto the deck, so he installed a motion detector out there.  The alarm is in his bedroom.  He peaked out the curtain and saw a man sneaking along the deck, heading to the girls bedroom door.  The one with the pink ponies stuck on the glass.  He grabbed an aluminium Ball Bat, and went out on the deck.  Knowing as soon as he opened the door the intruder would be alerted.  He jerked the door open and was immediately attacked by the intruder.  Needless the say the intruder lost the battle.  Broken nose, broken jaw, missing teeth, broken arm, and several broken ribs.  Wife comes out, identifies intruder, saying he had threatened to kidnap the girls when he got out of prison.   New husband sent her back inside, to call police.  He then dragged intruder over to high end of deck.  Hung him over the rail, threatening to let him fall 35ft onto rocks, head first.  When intruder started begging for his life, new husband informed intruder what would happen next time.

When police got there intruder was identified by the wife.  The police officers quietly commented, "And you let him live"?   Police found intruders finger prints on girl's door handle and glass in door.  Attempted kid-napping charges are being sought against intruder.  Maybe he will get a trip to sunny Arizona this time.  Alaska sends it's overflow down there to stay with Sheriff Joe.

That would be good. Should be about July or August when the gets done with the legal stuff. Let him spend a few years in Arizona in a GP tent.

I'm afraid he'd got a life sentence if I'd caught him breaking into my house.

Sounds like you all need to have a talk with the new husband about getting a home defense gun. Where I live that baseball bat may have gotten him killed. May have also been the case there if the fellow had a chance to get a gun in the two days.
Like your stories Sourdough, I hope FL is treating you good.

New husband has lots of guns, but he keeps them locked in the vault.  The second daughter has a mental issues, so they do not want one where she can possiably find it.  Biological father was on crack when he got the wife pregnant.

Bugflipper:  I came home to North Pole.  Caught lots of fish out of Marathon, and Key West.  82 degrees almost everyday, hotter a few days.  Spent a few weeks with my Dad in Tennessee.  He has Alzheimers, and seems to remember me the best.  I'm the oldest, he remembers things he and I did better than the younger boys.

Wife and Son were having car problems, and the wife was having health (Heart) issues.

The world would have been a bit better place if the crackhead had gotten his head cracked just a little harder and whatever creatures were up and about in those woods would have had an early Christmas dinner.

Glad you are at home safely, and glad this family had the best possible outcome.  Killing the man was an option, but he would have been killing the father of his children...albeit a sorry one.  Just a thought.

As do I, but always have my CCW on me.
But I find no fault in how he runs his house.
I was just commenting on how I roll.  ;D

Those two little girls, with Mom working, had very little disapline or structure in their lives for so many years.  The new father is making great strides in that area.  In the area of securing his guns, I trust his judgement, and feel he is doing the right thing.  Knowing those children like I do, if I was in his position I would do the same.

Now in my home, things were different with my youngest son growing up.  He learned about guns, and started shooting, at the age of five.  He knew where they were, but he also knew he was not to touch without Mom or I handing them to him.  I have several pistols, a couple of shotguns and a few rifles hidden throughout the house, all loaded and ready for use.  By the time he was 12 he had his own gun cabinet in his bedroom, where he kept my Contender Carbine and his Anschutz.  He was also enrolled in the 4-H shooting program at the age of 10.  It's just a tool that he learned to use early in life.
