Favorite holiday treat foods?
« on: December 23, 2011, 03:39:12 AM »
I always look forward to eating cookies during Christmas week. I think I eat about 90% of my year's supply of cookies during this time. I like sugar cookies sprinkled with colored sugar, and those peanut butter cookies with the Hershey kisses in the center. And lots of cold milk or tea to go with them. I like mixed nuts too. The ones without peanuts added. Yum!

I look forward to Fruitcake and Mincemeat pies. Mom used to make delicous Gumdrop cookies and date bars with powdered sugar on top. I could eat a pan of them and drink a gallon of milk to wash 'em down.

That's a tough one.  My wife is a fantastic baker and makes all kinds of cookies, pies, breads and candies around the holidays that she often gives out as Christmas gifts.  A couple of my favorites are her fudges (chocolate walnut, butter scotch and peanut butter). Her Oatmeal Scotchies (outmeal cookies with butterscotch chips and her "Dank as Crap" cookies (a concoction of ground Oreo cookies and peppermint candies rolled into balls and dipped in dark chocolate).  Her teenaged nice is the one who gave them their name.  We had brought some to a family gathering last year and when her nice bit into one she turned to her brother and exclaimed "Dude... these cookies are dank as crap!!!".  All conversation stopped and we all looked at her like "What did she just say?"  Seeing our puzzled looks she explained that "Dank as crap." is high praise in teen speak so the name has stuck.

Yep...mince meat pie and coffee for breakfast. Fruitcake, cut thin, served with ice cold milk.  Thumbprint cookies, some with pomegranate jelly, some with apricot jam (both home made), and some with a mix of coconut and brown sugar.

Molasses Crinkle cookies by the gross, and Spritz Cookie Press cookies - just plain, no sprinkles or anything.

Dang!  Y'all got me ta droolin' big time. It ALL sounds good.  Love the mince meat pies or cookies- think one's on the menu tomorrow.  Used to make my own with caribou.  Those oreo deals sound good and the ham biscuits and sweet potato pie!!   My wife sometimes does a  carrot soufle' that's so sweet it could be dessert - lot like sweet potato pie.  I realy really like standing over the left over turkey with a knife carving off little bits the day after.  Better check, the kitchen , think a batch of sumpthin' is about ready for a taste test!  Merry Christmas all!

Glad to know I'm not the only one that eats mincemeat pie for breakfast. And I'm not talking about that stuff in restaurants they call mince pie because it doesn't have any meat( venison or beef) in it!

Granddad was a wise old feller ;)

Fruit Cake? you poor fellas need to get out more ;D

I personally like anything with extra amounts of sugar. Kind of funny, thru the year I don't eat much of any cakes, pies and candis.
