T3 + B&C Medalist

Hey all, got a few questions. The T3 lite stock is plastic, but is the trigger guard molded into the stock or is it a removable piece? I ask because I want to get a T3 along with a Bell n Carlson stock, but in the photo of the stock there is no trigger guard. Would I have to buy an aftermarket trigger guard or is it possible to use the factory one? Thanks.

The factory T3 trigger guard (aka, bottom metal) is removable.  Remove the magazine, then the two action screws and pull the trigger guard out from the bottom of the stock.  When you put your action in the B&C stock make sure the recoil lug built into the stock is seated in the recoil lug recess.  All that is left to do is put the trigger guard, action screws and magazine back in place.

I find that the factory fiberglass stock is a good one but I really like the B&C stock a lot.  I have replaced two of my 3 T3s with the B&C stock.  I put a tan w/black web on a blue 6.5x55 and an olive w/black web on a stainless 30-06.

I also like the T3 lite stock, but the molded checkering has less grip than the wood stock and doesn't feel very good with gloves.  How does the B&C compare to the factory synthetic stock in terms of weight and grip? Thanks

The B&C stock feels closer to the T3 wood stock to me especially in the forend.  It has a cheek piece on the left side and a light palm swell on the right side of the stock.  A nice addition on the B&C stock is the Pachmeyer decelerator recoil pad.  The webbing seems to give the stock a textured feel and is very nice.  So far as weight I can't tell you an exact figure but I would guess that the B&C stock is several ounces more than the factory T3 lite stock.  On the sample of two that are mine I've found that the action fit the stock pretty close to perfect and the barrels are well centered in the barrel channel.

On gunbroker.com just type in Tikka T3 and you'll find the auction listing I mentioned previously.  I've talked with the shop over the phone and found them good people to deal with.  I really like the tan w/black web on the blued Tikka actions.  They offer a better color contrast.  I like the darker colors on stainless actions for the same reason.

I just put one on my T3 6.5X55. Fit great and was a true drop in. Love it ! I bought mine from Redhawk Rifles in Colorado and he is a great guy to deal with.....I forget what his name is on gunbroker but he is the guy abolt is referencing. The trigger guard pops right out with a little effort and the BC fit is tight so putting the trigger guard in it is not hard but is a tight fit and the recoil lug is a tight fit.......I had to wiggle mine some before it seated.

Just got back from a couple of weeks hunting is Ms., my home state.  I used the T3 6.5x55 with the B&C stock most of the time.  I already new it was accurate.  Found it to handle well on the ground and in the box blind.  Was a joy to carry and use.

Ambusher, I only sighted it in so far and it took only 6 shells to get from "on paper" at 25 yrds to dead on at 100yrds. That was leaning out of my truck window too.I shot a doe 2 days later at 110-125yrds and drilled her. So I think it is going to shoot great but it will be later on in the week this week before I can get to a real set up and do some group shooting off a bench with a lead sled. I like the way it turned out myself and it looks even better in good sunlight(maybe I can get a better picture up later). The glass is a Bushnell 4200 2.5-10x40 firefly reticle !

Shot it some on the range last week. It shot Remington 140grn CL's about an inch if you deduct the caliber size. About the same with Winchester 140grn SP's. Shot some Nosler 140 grn Accubonds and got about 3/4" groups or less. Shot some HSM Berger 140 grn VLD's and shot about 5/8" groups or less but they were a good 2.5" higher than all the other ammo at 100 yrds. Not bad for all factory ammo !!

This is a Bell and Carlson stock ? I tried to look it up in the catalog but could not find a model for the tikka . Could you share the part # If they have one in a dark shade or green that would be perfect for me .

I found them At Bell & Carlson under new items . Now to see if I can import one to Canada .
There isn't a problem with the factory stock on my 338F T3 , BUT!! I see a B&C stock like the one on my winchester model 70, would make a big improvement .

If you go on Gunbroker and punch in Tikka T3 and scroll through the listings you'll find these stocks on sale from a gun shop in Cedaredge, Co.  His posting shows all three colors that are available for the T3.  I've bought two from these people at the buy now price of $215.00.  They are excellent to deal with.  The listing has their phone number and you can call to make sure they have the color stock you want.

Also someone has a stainless T3 6.5x55 with the olive/black web stock listed for sale.  It has some good pictures that will show how good they look on the rifle.

I know I've listed this info on this post already but thought I would address your interest by listing it again.  These people have been the best I've found for buying this stock.  Good luck, Robert.

The problem is through gun broker's dealer
 
No returns you buy the stock as is .So If has a flaw or warbs down the road you just bought a tomato stake .Some gun forms report the stock are not what they used to be, and there is a problem with the forarm twisting / warping .
 
So as a Canadain I would pay the 215 then say 75 shipping US , then duty and shipping this side of the border Comes up to 400. quick.
 
Then you on your own getting it through the border ,if your buying it outside the USA .We can deal with our Customs , but if some how it gets labeled as gun part we stuck up the creek with no paddle !!
 
I would deal with some one who ships outside of the USA, and knows what is involved with Customs .Brownels would do this , but they say B@C is not registered - so they can not export it .
I have ordered parts and supplys through some good people who know what is involved and had no issues .Then too a few years ago I learned how to though good cash into the wind not going though this route .
