Fish, I'm not a fox guy so I can't be tellin you from experience. I don't know where the old FARTS RdFx and Rascal are.
A scent post (classic) would be a piece of wood about the diam of a broom stick and 8 too 10 inches long. The stick is pounded into the ground near a travelway of the critters and a trap is set 8 too 10 inches out from the post (coyotes). Urine or even a good gland lure is applied ti the top of the stake. You don't need a stick. In fact I've never used onr. A smallish bush, clump of grass, rock, stump what ever will work. Hell if you're trapping dogs a fire hydrant would be perfect LOL! Some use charred wood stakes for colour contrast. A scent post is basically a flat set using urine / gland lure a bit off the ground.
