Veral,
Which, in a 45 caliber, would deliver the best punch for large game like moose and bear? A 325 WLN GC @ 900 fps vs a 300 LFN GC @ 950 fps or a 250 LFN GC @ 1100? Where would you draw the line in velocity being too slow or where there is enough velocity for better punch? Was playing with your DV formula with different meplats, but when would a WFN be better than a LFN? Or when is higher velocity be preferred over say a heavier bullet? In other words, can have the DV with equal values, but have one being a LFN, another a WFN, by just playing with the velocities. My limitations is I have a short barrel, small frame 45 Colt. I also noticed there is a 460 Rowland for a 1911, shooting a 250 grain LFN bullet at 1350 fps. Would this be superior to any of my 45 Colt loads out of my small revolver? Again, which is preferred? Fast light bullet LFN vs big heavy, big meplat slow WLN or in between WFN medium speed? Which hits best?
Thanks,
Dennis
