The would be robber is one lucky son of a gun.   It stated in the video that the clerk normally carries a (real) gun but did not have it on him that night.

A great ending to the story, but very foolish on the part of the clery.  Recently there was a local that lost their life trying to overpower an armed robber.  He was a former football player, large man that could have broke the neck of the perp but the perp made up for his lack of size with three 9mm slugs to the man's chest.
 
I would say the clerk is a lucky man!
