Good to hear, for those interested in a rugged, affordable shotgun.  I only hope that the side by sides are coming through with a straight buttstock and double triggers.  My two side-by-sides, one 16 ga and one 12, have served me well since I bought them in the pre-Savage and Remington era, but I'm a lefty, and because the Baikals of that time had stocks that were cast for right hand shooters, I had to take a rasp to mine to adjust the point of aim.  I've used the 12, trouble-free, for nearly every summer, shooting trap at my club twice a week.  I got my money's worth.

I saw a 410 under 22 over at my local dealer the other day. I think it was one of those Russian guns,  but I didn't look too hard, cause I wasn't interested. It had a tall back wards dumb looking rear sight.

The single shot rifles are worth the money, even if they do need some foolin' and fixin'.  They shoot, and they last.

I had a .30-30 with the 20 gauge barrel too. It was very accurate and I used it for several years. I just got tired of the extra weight and sold it, sorry I did now.

I'd like to have one of their .45-70 doubles but they cost twice as much as they are worth.

The double rifles that I've shot they are cheap at twice the price. Just look at the price of the next cheapest one in the double rifle line up. Sabatti!

Yes they're crude and blocky but they shoot great and with the money you've saved you can fix the trigger problems and the sights as well as the stock comb.

If the SS rifles are as accurate they're good enough to start working with.

If they begin importing the 45-70 doubles, they are a nice rifle.  No, not a H&H or a Rigby, but a nice solid double rifle at a nice price.  About 200 rounds thru mine with no issues.  The stiff action has smoothed out nicely, and the triggers are not bad - heavy, but crisp.  With these guns, it pays to remove the stock, and give the action interiors a good cleaning - lots of grease and crud in mine.  It shoots fist size groups at 50 yards using Hornady 325 grain lever ammo, with the left barrel within an inch of the Right.  The barrel regulating wheel (the right barrel is fixed, the left floating) works well, and the frond sight is screw adjustable for elevation.  Used it this past year to shoot a decent Maine buck in the thick stuff.

I believe that they haven't stopped the importation of any of them. USSG is a division of EAA the importer since the Remmy fiasco.

I only own 1 Bailkal firearm,  A Remingtonton SPR 18 in 308 win.  I bought it a couple of years ago from Buds when they had them for under $ 200.00 including shipping.
I have to say it was a bargin,  For that money I got a rifle with,  hammer forged barrel,  walnut stocks, recoil pad, very trim and light weight and shots MOA with most ammo tried.
Whats not to like about that !  I have used it now to take 5 antelope at 250 + and think this is one of my rifles that wount ever be sold or traded.
I like my H & R handi rifles which I own a bunch of but this is a little different and just as good.
You may have to tinker with one of these to get the scope right and load it likes but its rugged like a hammer.

At over $800.00 the dounles are not a bargin.  They are very ugly.  I would buy one at $400.00.  They are importing them.

The next step up in doubles is 3K for a Sabatti.. Chapuis is 4-5K.

You may not think that an 800 dollar double is a bargain but it really is.

I emailed them(USSG) last night to see what was available. I asked for clarification on two points. They have a break action Model MP18MN in 7.62x39 and I asked if these Russian made rifle can be used with the Russian made steel case ammo. Also asked if they had the scope rings available to avoid the kludges that I've seen in the past.

And what, if anything, did they reply?  Another thing I wonder about is that published weight of these rifles in their ad.  I've seen a couple of these, and they were pretty light weight.  But that was a few years ago.  What's in their pictures now looks like the same gun, but now they say 11 pounds?  That's pretty hefty for a gun without a bull barrel, seems like.

Last month I bought two of the single shot shotguns in 20 ga one an adult stock and one a youth. These are very well made shotguns and I got a good deal at $90. each.  If the single shot rifles are the same quality, I am very interested.  Has anyone seen or shot one?  CAB

Kind of makes you wonder what kind of customer service a potential buyer could expect.  Several years ago they were pretty responsive on an issue I had, and they turned around a brand-new defective gun, completely fixed, in a week.  Now it seems that they don't even reply to queries via emails.  I've got some of their products, bought 10 or so years ago, but after reading this thread, particularly wganzwork's efforts to get some answers, I'd be pretty hesitant to buy from them nowadays at this point.  Too bad.  >:(

Not even being able to respond to customer inquiries doesn't bode well for customer sales.  Had been looking forward to these (.30-06 SxS rechambered to .300 H&H)  8)  but looking dim to dark now.

I've been watching the doubles a long time.  If I were going to buy one, I'd probably to through Davidson's as they give you a lifetime warranty even if the manufacturer doesn't.  Came in handy on my .45 LC Classic Carbine from H&R.  They replaced 2 of them that had way oversized chambers until I was happy.  They are always a tiny bit higher than Bud's or others, but it's worth it to me for the warranty.  Anyway, they have the 30-06 back in stock, but the .45-70's sold out again.  Might set up a stock watch if you want to get a .45-70.

I've got a Remington SPR18 in 7.62X39 I bought a few years back. Spiral fluted barrel, nice wood, seems well made.
Scoping it has been an issue due to the very short rail on the receiver. Haven't been able to get it right yet & am looking at mounts for air guns. As it stands now, I have a cheap BSA on it in Burris Z rings but they eye relief is still not satisfactory.
It shoots just O.K. with handloads as of now but should improve once I get the scope mount issue resolved.

I have the Remington Baikal 20ga over and under.  Darn thing is a tank!  Lots of steel in that action for sure.  Locks up like a bank vault.
Came with a set of choke inserts and I've been having great luck hunting squirrels with it.  Would prefer squirrel hunting with the 22rf
but everything got so built up with homes that I'm more comfortable with shotgun.

I looked them up on the US Sporting Goods website.  They appear to cost a bit more nowadays, and the shotguns all have "cast off" as a (supposed) feature.  That's the same as before the Remington partnership.  That means if a lefty buys one of these guns, and takes it to the range, he'll be missing most everything he or she shoots at in spite of how the gun feels to his or her shoulder.  The first time I bought a Baikal over-under I went to my gun club one Sunday and tried a round of trap.  Hit 8 out of 25.  I then asked a buddy who's very good at trap to try this gun.  He's right handed, and a good trap shooter.  He shot 25 straight the first time he held that Baikal in his hands.  Eventually I was able to shoot this gun, but only after rasping down one side of the stock in order to get a proper fit.  I wish they'd import those Baikals with a straight stock instead of with a stock bent for right-handers only!  Except for that, those are very dependable, rugged shotguns.

I wonder why we refer to these as "Baikal's" as if one checks the proof marks it will clearly show the mark of the factory that actually made them. The MH18 in 222 Rem I had was made at Ishavek (Spelling) as was the 12 Bore O/U I own.

Surely Baikal is just an area around that huge lake Baikal.

Maybe because they have "Baikal (Russia) stamped on the lower part of the receiver??
