I was reading a boating magazine while waiting for an appointment and there was a review of a 35 foot offshore open fishing boat with three 350hp outboard motors. Running at full throttle, fuel consumption was 105 gallons per hour (that's about 50mph). Whoo! That's some serious fuel bill for a fishing trip. At cruising speed it was about 45 gallons per hour. I didn't realize they used that much fuel.
Shouldn't be surprised, though, because a big yacht costs about $100,000 to $150,000 at each fill-up.
I think a tractor for a tractor-trailer rig costs about $700 to fill these days.
Got any interesting fuel consumption stats?
