Sent one of my SB2 receivers to H&R on Dec 12th for a 44mag barrel and got it back today. Was really surprised when Brown rang the door bell. H&R even installed a new hammer and extension. I'm off to Wally for some white box 240's, and then shooting tomorrow. Thanks to Brian56 and the folks at H&R.

The 44 is fun to shoot, I'm waiting for a 30-30 I mailed off on 12-16.

White box 240's are the ticket! I hunted with 240 Win. Dual Bonds this year, which have awesome on game performance but don't shoot nearly as well as the white box. Out of my Trapper, I'm getting about two inches at 50 with the DB's. My .44 camo Handi shoots the white box's around .75 at 100 yards
haven't tried them in my Trapper yet... that will be an off season project.

I've had good results with both the Winchester & Federal 240Grains. They both shot well out of mine.
I never tried the white box 240's, aren't they the same as the Winchester 240's, basically a more economical Winchester 240 load?

My quandary, I personally, don't think I have enough Handi's but, I know I have more Handi's than I really need or should have.

Both my "new" .44's shoot the Hornady Leverevolutions under an inch at 100. The old overbored will shoot Buffalo Bore inside 2 inches.

Hey ronbob, congrats. on the .44mag barrel. I'm still
looking for a .357mag. Someday it will appear. Good
luck with it and be safe.

I just slugged the barrel and it measured .432, not sure what that means or if thats good or bad.
Time will tell I guess, we'll give it a try and see what happens.

I shoot the white box 240's as well for plinking and they shoot great. But I hunt with the leverlutions and they are a little more accurate and leave a nice hole! I wouldn't hesitate to take the cheap Winchesters to the woods though....
