Best black powder substitute for flintlock

Well here in Pa. the flintlock season has begun no black powder available locally.What is the best black powder substitute to use in a flintlock?My flintlock is a TC Firestorm and wasn't impressed with Triple Seven pellets.I am using 195 grain Power Belt hollow points with a charge of 80 grains 2f currently.

American Pioneer 2f did pretty good in my traditions flintlock. You MUST prime the pan with real black powder in order for subs to work.

No interest in trying subs in a flintlock...Black powder is charcoal, potassium nitrate and sulfer...The sulfer lowers the ignition temperature...
 
Pyrodex came out in the 70s, it was made with a higher ignition temperature so it didn't have to have all the government regulations on shipping and storage that real black powder does...
 
Since the ignition temperature is higher, it's harder to ignite with sparks from a frizzen...
 
Nope, not trying it...No need to have to pull a charge for experimenting when real black powder works just fine...

none that are currently on the market work in mine?
Even with real black powder in the pan.
Almost without fail, the black powder ignites the main charge.
then I get what appears to be a small rocket firing out of the barrel touch hole.
before a weak boom as the ball fires.
Until a year or so ago, 777 would work, but not now.
Black powder being the only explosive in the lot is the difference.
All others are propellants.

Actually black powder doesn't explode, it burns, very rapidly...
