I couldn't say about the price, but I learned to shoot on an Ithaca saddle rimfire and that was a sweet shooting, slick action laser accurate gun. Nice gun!
held fast

Mercy, times do change! When I was a kid, anothr neighbor kid showed up and wanted $10 for his Ithaca. My brother offered him $5. He took it to another neighbor kid who offered him $5, and snce he didn't want to walk any farther than he had to, he sold it to the other guy for $5. About ten years went by and another neighbor kid sold my brother one in .22 WMR for $20.   I mean, they were just single shots, you know.

If it's the one I'm thinking of I never cared for the "Faux" tubular magazine.  I quess I'm a minimalist at heart and never cared for parts without a function.

NOT.................  The OP's rifle is a Model 72 (NOT a Model 49) lever-action REPEATER, made in W.Germany by Erma, and a direct ancestor (same designer) of today's H001 Standard Henry Rifle.

Nice catch, Jim - especially for $300, IF it's in decent condition.

You could have had a new Henry for less from walmart and they are the same design rifle. Erma made them under their own name and also for Iver Johnson as well as Ithaca.

I took the plug out of the end of the false magazine tube and filled the tube up with ammo for a just in case supply.
