 Every one knows your the one rifle brand guy and say you hate Rugers , so if you were a bit more careful going to the remington forums you would not get on the Ruger one.
I have remingtons, winchester,Ruger  Marlins and tikka's . The only one that has shot sub MOA groups out of the box has been the tikka's. All the others have had at least a trigger job done by a smith . Mind you once some work has been done- I usually like the rifle .

I really like Rugers and own a pile of them, just not their boltguns or semi-autos.

To each his own boys everyone is entitled to an opinion or two.I own two Remington 700s (30-06&300RUM) and a Ruger 77 (300 Win) all three excellent shooters. With the right load the Ruger will cut one hole at 100yds. Then again so will my 700's. Just because I happened to grab my old Remington 700 ADL 30-06 9/10 times doesn't mean the other two are any less lethal we all just have our own preferences.

lol,,,,, I've been in the hosp with my son since friday night so this is the first time I've had a chuckle since I got here. Swampy is as predictable as the sun rise about Remingtons. Gb was right, these rifles might be ugly but like I said before,,,,, Its kinda like having an ugly gf,,,,,, Its ok as long as your buddies dont see ya with her.........and dont go gettin all smug,,,,,,, you know what I'm talking about. ;D

there 700 adls. the ones our local store sells is a plastic cammo stocked gun with a blind bottom. trigger guard looks like some kind of synthetic (plastic) material but for the price there asking its a steal for a 700 even if you take the cheap scope and toss it in the trash.

I sold my cheap scope for $50.00 on ebay.  The steel and aluminum triggerguards are available for $25.00.
 
I converted mine into a faux CDL for $150.00 total cost.

A 700 ADL is a good value if its the old style one.

at least they went back to the tang safety,that winchester wanta be can stay on the winnys!! hate that safety! clip fed thats good.i guess time will tell,but iknow i'll keep my eye out for one.

Remington makes some great guns.
Savage makes some great  guns.
Winchester makes some great guns.
Ruger makes some great guns.
And so do about a dozen other companies.

But you can't compare them to each other and then start talking about custom stocks, switching out barrels, adding a different trigger.
 You need to compare out of the box to out of the box.
I think you will find they are much closer matches.

Well,I'm going to get one in 270 when they become available.....I have 4 Remy's, 2 Winchesters, a Marlin and 2 Edges, and a Savage They all shoot under an inch. Will let you know how the American does if I ever find one..............

  I dont see that the Ruger is in the same price class as the Savage Axis or some of the other low end rifles.  I live within 45 min. of a Bass Pro, a Cabelas , and Gander MT. they all have sales and will match anyones price.  The Ruger is on sale right now for $ 399 and you can buy a Savage for $ 269 when on sale.
  For  $399 you can buy some of the Rem 700's with a rebate or get a clean used older Ruger.

A small chain of gun stores in Houston area, called Carters, began selling the Ruger American several weeks ago.  Last week noticed the American rifle listed in their newspaper ad which they normally have every couple of weeks.  LOL, ad price was $449.95.  Gee, think this is 95 cents higher than Ruger's suggested retail price.
