I am buying a round of drinks to celebrate Hamp's getting back to doing one of the things he enjoys doing and that is Cowboy Action Shooting.

Much obliged for the invite, Lady GB.  That first one tasted mighty good.  Gotta tell ya, I worked up quite a thirst yesterday, what with the 70+ degree temp, the hot competition, and havin' to listen to Big Hext all day.  At least around here, all I got to do to get away from him is turn off the 'puter.  Yes maam, think I will have a nuther one.  This place shore ain't very crowded today.

A true (and somewhat sad) story.

I was standing beside Johnny Q (Hamp's son) while Hamp was shooting.  The light caught the smoke and there was just a bit of wind, I leaned over and asked, "Is yer dad shooting BP?"  :?:

Johnny Q looked at me funny and said, "nope, just his usual stuff, the cheapest he can find, I bet."

At which time I realized I've seen too many gamer BP shooters.. Can't even tell BP from the smokeless anymore.

Well now, it may be true that I am somewhat "frugal" when it comes to lookin' for the best deal in reloading components (got to be when you're retired and loading for 2-3 shooters), but I really don't know how Hext has any room to talk.  From the way they sounded (I've heard louder cap guns), and judging from how long it took for the bullets to reach the steel (Old Hext was generally reholstered before we heard the last clang),  I'm bettin' that whover put together Hext's loads got in the neighborhood of 7000 per pound of powder (now, THAT'S frugal).  But, I've gotta admit,  he was havin' plenty of fun doin' it, and that's what it's all about.

Yessiree...

I knew we was kindred then, cause I'm shooting up this case of free (ahem, yes free) police range ammo.  I've got about 1000 rounds left and while they aren't great, I am having a tough time using anything else..  I mean they were free.., ya know, free?

Hope to see ya next month and with Texana as well.

Lawdawg, Thanks for buying the next round. A root beer would be great right about now.
