Is this 870 Anything Special?
« on: December 30, 2002, 12:52:56 PM »
I recently traded for an older 20 gauge 870 marked Remington Magnum Wingmaster.  It has a 28" full choke barrel and what appears to be factory cut checkering but it is very straight forward & blocked with a series of three interlocking large diamonds on the beavertail.  No curves, no fluer de lylse (however that is spelled) at all.  The stock is more blond than walnut.  It has a black & white line spacer on the Remington marked recoil pad and a flying duck on the the pistol grip cap.  Any Rem experts out there?  Is this just a standard 20 mag?  Ken

ID'd as:  Remington Model 870 Wingmaster Magnum Deluxe Grade.  Same as Standard Grade except has checkered stock and extension beavertail forearm, bbl. with matted top surface.  Discontinued in 1963.   $325.  23rd edition Gun Trader's Guide
