Agent Orange and our Food Supply!
« on: January 07, 2012, 10:41:39 PM »
People are worried about many things on this board but I believe this subject is something we must all get involved with ........ that is if you want to remain healthy!

Of course if you're to busy to get involved then don't worry the Government is ready to pass this on to you on Feb. 28th of this year!

Quote
Agent Orange was a 50-50 mix of two common herbicides, 2,4-D and 2,4,5-T, which had been used domestically since the late 1940s without incident by U.S. farmers, railroads and others. Since the Vietnam War, both scientific and public concern has arisen over the dioxin compound 2,3,7,8-TCDD, a byproduct of the manufacturing process used to produce 2,4,5-T (which, again, was one of the herbicides in Agent Orange.) TCDD was present in trace amounts. Research on the issue of Agent Orange has gone on for decades and continues today.

Quote
(NaturalNews) Residents of a small West Virginia town near a Monsanto chemical production plant have filed a class action lawsuit against the agri-giant for pollution caused by the decades-long production of 2,4,5-T, a chemical compound that represents about half of the infamous Agent Orange herbicide. At the very same time, the Dow Chemical Company is seeking government deregulation of a new genetically-modified (GM) variety of corn resistant to 2,4-D, the other half of Agent Orange.
Agent Orange is the same herbicide chemical weapon that the US government sprayed over agricultural land in Vietnam during the Vietnam War, and that has been banned since the 1970s. Nearly a half million people were killed, and another half million children born with birth defects, as a result of the mass murder sprayings conducted by the US government and military.

Quote
Now, rather than moving away from chemical and energy-intensive GMO crops and deadly pesticides, the USDA is preparing to escalate, letting chemical/biotech companies force a new wave of genetically engineered herbicide-tolerant crops, mutants that can survive being sprayed with the infamous herbicide 2,4-D, an Agent Orange ingredient with documented, uncontested major health problems that include cancer, reproductive problems, neurotoxicity, and immunosuppression..

Quote
Tell the USDA Not to Approve New 2,4-D-Resistant GMO Crops

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is ready to approve a new corn variety that is genetically modified by Dow Chemical to be resistant to the herbicide 2,4-D. This dangerous chemical was a major component of the herbicidal warfare program in Vietnam under the now infamous name of Agent Orange.
There is a large body of evidence indicating major health problems resulting from exposure to 2,4-D that include cancer, reproductive problems, neurotoxicity, and immunosuppression.

The first round of "RoundUp Ready" herbicide resistant crops only helped to breed super-weeds that are a nightmare to farmers. Urge President Obama and USDA Sec. Vilsack to protect America's farmers and our unborn children. Please take action by February 27, 2012, to stop new 2,4-D resistant genetically engineered crops!
And lastly, this:

The mechanism of 24D is to make the plant cells grow ot of control to the point that the plant physiology can't sustain the plant. The physical systems of the plant get disrupted. Sound familiar?ear

I don't believe there is any real evidence that Agent Orange is a problem.  Media hype...that's all.

Chicken Little called he said to get a grip man.

2,4-D is not agent orange, that would be like saying water is lemonade. Till you see the urban population centers moving back to the country to hoe corn with a REAL hoe you just as well spend your time and efforts where they could benefit mankind.

No one likes the old chemistry, nobody likes the new chemistry, nobody wants to physically labor under the hot sun, and nobody wants to pay for food. You have to make some compromises in life. Take a trip to some third world country get back to the "farm" country watch some poor SOB toiling over 1 yes One acre, trying to eek out a living. He's chasing after his kids to catch the next days "fertilizer".  Old Uggedy Buggedy is breaking his ass all day every day to eat poorly and feed his family poorly and if he has a bumper crop he can buy a new blue tarp for his one room bungalow in the burbs.

Everyone likes to think it's Old McDonalds farm out here, well you're crazy if you believe that. It is all about production, production of food, fiber and  ::) energy ::) . Don't ever utter a syllable about how much money you spend at the grocery store. Uggedy is working all day to survive not thrive, survive.

Quit kidding yourselves, cheap food and cheap oil are what separate us from a third world existence.   The work it takes will kill a man, do you think it is by accident the world population exploded about the time modern agriculture and oil emerged?

I'm done. Sorry for the mess.

What ever you say. My father died of an agent orange related illness. The doctor(a doctor at a world class health system) said he had only seen 6 other cases in his 30 year career-guess what? All vietnam vets that were exposed to agent orange-just like my father. Also my mother got compensation from the mfg of agent orange after my father's death. I guess thats all media hype too. By the way-my father wasnt drafted, he volunteered and did two tours there. After he became ill the VA and government treated him like he was a piece of crap.
Hi NSA! Can you see how many fingers I am holding up?

I believe it is/was all media hype.  I appreciate your father's service.  Don't ever go to the VA.  There is no worse place to get treated.

Well when you become parapalegic and lose your job and your insurance and you are not an illegal alien medical treatment options are limited. Unrelated to this topic but I always tell proponents of government run healthcare to go to a VA hospital to see it in "action".

Thank you for your condolences. It was 15 years ago. Sometimes it feels like it was yesterday. I had only been a paramedic for 2 years. I was working that day and went to the last call for help. I have no doubt the experience has scarred me for life at some level.
