Hi bubba, :D
I'm still here. Sure hope you can get this going again. I'd like to know what other New Yorkers are up to in the off season. Don't know what the weather is like where you are at but it sure is to cold to do much outside here.

          good luck,

:D Even though it is cold and snowy, I still have some traps set out.  Not catching anything, but it is good to get out everyday and try different things and get outside.  Probably try to get out and do some coyote calling soon.  I have never had any luck but it keeps me hunting.

Hey Bubba!
Congratulations and Welcome to your new assignment as NY Hunters Moderator.  I haven't had too much to offer the past couple years as I have managed to be under the weather during the Whitetail Seasons.  My little hunting region is state land right on the Northern Zone borderline of Rte 49, Cleveland. NY.  My wife and I have a summer camp there on Oneida Lake and I think the deer got more cars this year than we got them!!!!

That sure is becoming a big problem up north here too.  In St Law county last  year there were 4700 car deer accidents. That is a scary number. I hope you feel better Savage.

Bubba,
I'll check in more often. I'm new here, only a few posts so far. I'm waiting for it to warm up a tad so I can go ice fishing and shoot my new Rem 7600 '06.

Hello Everyone, I am updating my bio... Living part time in Geneseo NY driving ambulance for the Geneseo Volunteer Fire Dept.  Remainder of my time is in the Hudson Valley or travelling.  Went to forestry school @ Paul Smith's College back in the 60's (64-66)..  Retired from a utility company, (fall of 2006) and hunt near Attica in Wyoming County, and want to get back to hunt the Adirondacks this fall.

Have put the Contender and Encore pistols on the back shelf now the state allows rifles for deer hunting in Wyoming County.  Developing loads for the Encore 260 Remington rifle.

This is the first year since '74 that I didn't bowhunt! Don't know why, but I just wasn't in the mood, I guess!

My wife and I hunt with my brother, on his farm a little, otherwise we hunt the State Land here in Russell!

I Got a doe on the second day of Muzzle Loader season!  Distance was around 150 yards! TC Encore 209X50 Mag rifle!

My wife got a 3-pointer on the second day of the regular season, and two weeks later, I got a 3-pointer myself!
She uses a Rem M-7 .308 Win and I use a Rem M-7 in 7mm-08 Rem!

I've been waiting for it to warm up a little so I could go coyote hunting!
This 35-40 below zero is a little much!
We see them crossing the meadows behind our house once in a while!

I used to hunt the Donnerville area some and have land in South Colton. Now it is easier just to stay home and hunt my Brother in Laws Farm. We have about 2500 acres of farm and then have state land in Pope Mills area. I got a doe early season with my H&R Huntsman muzzleloader. Then I filled a buddies doe permit  I passed on a couple small bucks looking for the big one I knew was there. I hunt with a few friends mornings and we make drives on State land. I have a choice if stands to sit in evenings on the farm. I use a H&R 25-06 single shot. I own a few rifles but like this one.  It is very effective. I handload for everything I own that I can.  Glad to see you here neighbor. Maybe we can get together sometime to swap stories.

Bubba,
Still here in New Kingston, Delaware county, in the Catskills. Staying warm and digging out on a regular basis.
I haven't been out hunting since muzzleloader. But the coyotes have been screaming in the area a lot lately and are causing me to reaaaaly want to drop a few. Just been too tired from work to take a free day and dedicate it to them. Maybe soon though.

Stay Safe,
Franz

Hello Bubba.
Tom here from southern Westchester.  Finally had a place to hunt close to home this year (southern Putnum) and I missed more deer then I have in the last 10.  At least one of the misses was divine intervention.

Been shooting paper every weekend but have already arranged a pig hunt in Vermont for one of the middle weeks in April.   Have to have something besides geese in the freezer. Hopefully get out for dogs in the next month or so.

The groundhog tacked another 6 weeks onto winter.  Lets hope that he's wrong.
