FULL MOON BOARS
« on: January 08, 2012, 02:32:44 PM »
Well, ok,  it was ALMOST a full moon last night..... timber company did a clear cut and the white sand landscape left behind left a perfect mirror for the glorious moon last night.    Dumped about 20lbs corn on the white ground came home to have dinner.     Bout 8 pm went back out, parked the truck and stalked in on the clear cut.   6 hogs feeding, shot the largest with a 7mm mag Qtip.    Bangflop.   Tommy was a happy camper that night!

Don't hunt much in FL these days - we have a lease outside of Waycross GA that I spend my weekends on.     By the way,  the 100lb pigs are the best size for eating.... ;D

I also shot one night before last in the full moonlight. He was backlit by light colored sand also and a bit below me. He weighed about 125 pounds and my 35 Whelen ended him on the spot with a hit through the shoulder bones in line with his lower neck. I had a spot light in my left hand but didn't turn it on as there was no need.

Going out tomorrow to set a new tree stand w/in 25 yards of the feeder.  Also will try to find and set some solar lights there under the trees.  Friday night, under a 78% moon, 45-70.gov and girlfriend are arriving to put an end to the LEAD DEFICIENCY problem exhibited in some or all of the remaining 150-175 pound hogs on my land who have decided to go nocturnal in their effort to avoid the insertion of lead during daylight hours.

sounds like a great time to be had...weather will be cool enough to keep off the skeeters and a clear sky.....Y'all have fun and be sure to post the postmortem    ;D

It was cold (no disrespect to the frozen North) by Florida standards and the pigs DID NOT PARTICIPATE.

The pigs around here are miserably unpredictable!
