Now will they fit on a XR3-RED frame? Do you have a NMB to see if the screw aligns CW?

The shape is a bit different... between the Xr3 and the RED frames.. The screw is only in the grips...no? Been a while since I had a grip off...
Yes I do have both, let me check tomorrow...

Thanks guys. I had seen there adds for "rubber" grips, but thought them to be the plastic like those on the Rugers. Good to know.

have you tried buffalo horn? pretty and functional. they have a sticky texture. i have an old seville with buffalo horn grips and it handles recoil as well as any thing i have bisley included. personally i dont like the gun to roll in my hand. hammer spurs burried up in the web of my hand from the gun spinning around under recoil doesnt feel too good. the grips taper wide to narrow from the bottom up.

I too prefer the smooth grips on my heavy recoiling 45 LC's. If someone else prefers a shooting glove or oversize, checkered, stag, Pachmayrs or Hogue grips then that's just a matter of personal preference. Kinda like what brand and color vehicle you drive. And yes Swampman, I know Florida has a bunch of bugs but Alabama has a crap load of them too. I mostly wear a pair of the cheap cotton gloves in a brown or camo pattern, with the thumb and trigger finger cut off, to help hide my hand movement and knock off a little bit of the chill during hunting season.

The one USFA that I have handled did not seem that the grips were that soft, but I really was not looking for that either. Do the points of the checkering actually bend under recoil?

best friend let me use his blackhawk with smooth "ivory grips" wow what a difference perceived recoil with the 300 grain bullets was a lot less, gun rolled straight back made subsequent shots easier to get back on target

Though described as hard rubber, the stock grips on USFA revolvers are similar to those used on new Blackhawks in that they are hard, with no noticeable give, or at least so on mine. Another option for the Blackhawk I have thought about but never tried is the Hogue grips that are similar in design to the rubber grips, but are available in fancy wood.

I use these CLC grips on my .45 Colt Ruger, and I find them to be perfect with hot loads.

My heavy hitters in .45 Colt are used for hunting and in a Ruger SRH. It has aftermarket grips that help spread the recoil and the weight to control even the .454's. The heavy .44 Mags are used in a T/C 10 inch with Pachmyer decelerators. My accuracy has improved and my fat knuckle near the trigger guard has stopped bleeding and healed. Light to moderate loads in the Colts and clones help a lot. And they still get the job done for me. I have to admit a deep and long lived affliction for the single actions, their grace and beauty is outstanding. But sometimes they can be vengeful!

I, too, wear some sort of gloves when hunting, whether with rifle, pistol or bow. Doesn't make much sense to get all camo-ed up and leave my bare white hands to signal every critter within range. White hands do stand out as stated in someone's previous post.

I use the pacmayer presentation grips on all my big bore handguns. I like the rubber were i can squeeze my hands into them.

I like wood grips. Pretty wood grips are even better. The "classic" Super Blackhawk style is my favorite, however I don't
care for the "sharp, 90 degree corner" in that trigger guard. A little cutting here and welding there seems to do the trick.

This gun is a .44 mag. I shoot 300 grain cast bullets at speeds around 1200 fps.

Flatgate you have stated my preference perfectly. That corner on the Super Blackhawk has dinged me several times. I like the old style wood grips best too. As for wearing gloves, during hunting season in N. Texas you can experience freezin cold and teeshirt weather in the same day, if it's cold I wear em.

Well I have a pretty good collection of Ruger SAs.
Most factory models but a few limited editions and customs.
In fact, I have at least one of every two cylinder Ruger in blue the company ever made and some that never made it to the public.
Limited edition presentation sets like 38/40-10mm-40 S&W three cylinder.
Custom jobs like 445 super mag, 480 Ruger, factory 357 Max.
Standard Blackhawks, Super Blackhawks and Bisleys, both standard and Vaquaro.
Short barrels (3.5") to long (12" Super).
I have hunted with all of them over the years.
Some have factory wood, (not many) five have buffalo horn, some have fancy wood, a lot have stag, one has finger groove checkered Packmars but most have true elephant ivory.
Some are smooth and some are checkered.
I load from mild to wild in my 44s and 45s and my 357 max.
I don't wear gloves while shooting.
Just can't feel the gun the same way as bare handed.
To me, a tight grip and going with what the gun wants to do seems to be the best as far as recoil goes.
The 445 Bisley hot loads are the most punishing but a set of finger grove packmars calmed it down a lot !!!
The main thing is you need to shoot them a lot to get use to them.
The Super Blackhawks are the worst for me because of the square trigger guard.
Tears that middle finger up everytime while shooting from the bench.
I have changed a few of them over to rounded ones on the heavy hitters like the 445.
Maybe one day when the wrist starts to swell and the forearm starts to thump I may change my mind, but for now, no gloves.

gb-if you router out your grip panels a little with a dremil. tool you can use most any grips with the stupid safety lock. It does get pretty cold in N. Fla. at times.In "89" the snow stayed on the ground for 4 days(miracle). The bugs are much worse here than upper Ala.. On my place in Tallapoosa Co. only redbugs and ticks in summer are bad and I have 3/4mi. of Sougahatchee creek frontage. If you want bugs go above Mobile in the river bottom. Even the deer pull out. Down here it is Tate's Hell in Franklin and Liberty counties. Boy, have I gotten off subject!
Swampman, I also like thin leather gloves- when it is cold only. I agree with GB, lets be civil. Everyone has an opinion but not everyone cares(you all take your shots now).
Big easy, my Bisley tears up my knuckle too.
Cheezehead, I also hunt in Minn. some too(s. of Duluth). Sometimes you can't get enough gloves on(like when theres 2" of ice hanging off of your nose and it is 20* below and the wind is howling-know what I mean? Pat
