Soft steel in an Egyption Maadi?
« on: January 18, 2004, 02:23:38 PM »
I had read of people complaining of metalurgy problems in Egyption made Maadi AK-47s.  Exactly what part of them is soft?  I have 1 Russian Ak and a Romanian made AK-47 and taking a guess, the only thing that is likely to wear out before the rest of the gun would be the gas piston rod end, and the trigger part that gets cocked by the bolt when it recoils, but even then I suspect it would take 10's of thousands of rounds before I would have to replace those parts.

I see MAADI's at the gun shows and the quality of finish is lower than the Romanian, and the price is cheaper too.  Anybody have a problem with them?

Thanks.

I've never heard of that problem on Maadi's...I have heard of problems with old B-West Chinese recievers though.
