Well I'm no expert on stupid so I'll have to take your word for it.
But banning vegetarian mountain lions isn't the same as banning a murderous cult legal system that violates human rights and constitutional law.
The legislation was past to insure that sharia was never to be allowed as a consideration with in our states legal system.
Sharia is not a religion it is a legal system that is promoted by a religion and as such has no protection under the first amendment.
So your precious federal courts were wrong again as usual.
What happens if an existing law is found to be in agreement with or even based on some tenet of Sharia law? Does that mean that particular law must be stricken? What if the state wants to enact a new law? It would be required to hire a legal team of Sharia scholars to scour Sharia law. What if a law is enacted and, 10 years later, found to be in violation of the Sharia ban? Would everyone convicted under that law have their sentences overturned? Would those people have the right to sue the state?
There has been a slew of over-simplified, well-meaning, but ill-conceived bills across that country that have been voted down or rightfully overturned because the unintended consequences were not taken into account. Common sense says...if it ain't broke don't fix it.
By the way, I've seen one post mentioning a couple of non-specific cases where Sharia was used. Are there any documented cases available? I'm interested to know exactly what it is that caused this panic to begin with...or is it paranoia?
