Hello Everybody,
Not much of a poster, mostly read and learn.


I had a 12 ga. barrel fitted to my 20 ga frame and got 3 chokes for it.  I'm wondering if anyone knows if there is a rifled choke made by anyone that would be compatible with New England threads.


A friend of mine had an 1187 Remington and it had a 3 inch external rifled choke you could attach which allowed you to clover leaf 3 shots at 50 yards with plain old lead hollow base slugs,


This would give me the option of 12 gauge slug gun.

Never seen one in the factory listings but that doesn't mean there isn't aftermarket.  I'd be curious if the choke tube you described on the Remington is a "lead collector"?  May be wrong but it would seem to me trying to spin up a projectile at it's maximum speed would tend to do a lot of tearing.  Has your friend shot the barrel without the rifled adapter in place?

IIRC, a browning invector type choke will fit on an H&R choked shotgun barrel.  Here is a link to an invector rifled choke tube.   My somewhat limited experience with rifled choke tubes is they shoot alot better in the advertising copy than they do at the range.

IIRC, an Invector choke will work on a H&R threaded choke shotgun barrel.  There are fully rifled Invector chokes for sale on gunbroker and other places.

Somebody on this forum posted the info.  There is one seller on gunbroker who lists chokes that are described as H&R/NEF/Invector.  Also, it might be in the FAQs, the last place I always look. ;)

I think you will  find that the Winchoke is also compatible....I have H&R with threaded chokes that invector type(not invector plus) fit.  I think a lot of Mossbergs will also fit(not 100% sure)

Mossberg 500 chokes fit the H&R's

I shot his gun without the choke and it sucked. With the choke it would clover leaf 3 at 50 yards over the seat of a three wheeler.

thanks, certainly ran against what I thought but sometimes I do that too much  :o

If I had a rifled choke tube that would clover leaf at 50 yards I would not care if it was a lead collector or not.  You don't shoot slugs that much.
