Trigger Guard Question for the Experts
« on: January 14, 2012, 03:44:07 PM »
OK, got my replacement trigger guards in from Brownell's yesterday. One for my BC frame, and one for my brother, the machinist. He has one question for someone who knows; the left side of the trigger guard, where the trigger pivot pin goes through, has a curved relief cut into it, I am assuming to clear the trigger extension. Does the edge of this cut, and it's curved shape, perform any function in the operation of the trigger extension, or is strictly just a relief cut?
The reason he wants to know is that he is going to make me a metal trigger guard, and that curved cut is the only part of the job he felt would cause problems.

It's hard to invision that cut. I have a couple trigger guards at home. Later today I'll look and see if I have an answer for you.

Maybe post a pic or three..

At first thought I am thinking your correct, just a relief cut.

OSOK,

The radius cut on the left of the trigger opening is strictly clearance for the trigger extension.
