CVA sidlelcock help.
« on: January 16, 2012, 07:11:05 AM »
Here is my delima....I have a CVA mountain stalker that the owner before me broke off the lug at the rear of the barrel. My guess is that they were trying to remove the breech. Anyway, I been having a hard time trying to find a replacement barrel for it. There are two different barrels available for this style muzzleloader. One with the Hawkens style "hook" on the back, and the other witht he hex head, which is what the mountain stalker uses.

First off, I have read that the bobcat barrel will fit the mountain stalker. Is this true? They do look exactly the same.
Second, Would it be a bad idea to get a hawkens style barrel and modify the connection to the stock to fit the "hook" design?
Third, if I can use this style barrel, would something like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/CVA-32CAL-SQUIRREL-RIFLE-BARREL-NICE-BARREL-VERY-HARD-FIND-/330672767812?pt=Vintage_Hunting&hash=item4cfda20344 still fit the stock of a 50cal muzzle loader even though it is a 32cal barrel? ???

Look up Deer Creek Products, phone 765-525-6181. They will have new barrels for you. They took over all of CVA's sidehammer muzzleloader stuff.
