The new ruger frontier to have  conventional scope bases in addition to the fwd mount.  Back up sights are a good thing too.
BTW, is .260 that ugly of a caliber to include it??

From what I've seen in the pics----the Frontier does have the option of conventional scope mounting.

The scope mounting system is molded into every 77----it would seem an expensive proposition not to make them all the same.

Omaha-BeenGlockin,
I have tried to look at the pics and think it does as well.  My reasoning is it would be nice to mount a scout scope in the standard 2.5x in the fwd position and sight it in with a nice deer round.  I would then mount a conventional 3-9x or so in the normal position and sight in with a good light weight bullet load for coyotes and such.  I've heard that those bases allow very near return to "0" and you could easily have 2 rifles in one.
Food for thought.
Tony

Now that it's a new year I guess that I can re-wish for something that hasn't happened in the past.
HEY RUGER!  HOW ABOUT A 5 SHOT SBH IN .480.
Best,
TnNuc
PS. While I'm at it, make it a SS Bisley.

A Bisley in 480 Ruger with 51/2" bbl. It would sell like hotcakes.

I'd like to see:

1) a scale version of the No.1/No.3 for rimfire, but using the 10/22 barrel attachment system so you can interchange .22LR to .17 HMR

2) a nicer stock on their lever actions.  I'm thinking checkered walnut, roll-over cheekpiece, and schnabel forend, similar to the old Savage 99's.  Wouldn't that look nice on a 96/22?

3) a .22 LR version of their P-series semi-auto pistols.

Armory414,
Ditto on the .17/.22 rimfire No. 1 & the nicer stocks on the 96/22.
Its homely looks kept me from buying one a few years back.

The only thing that's prevented me from buying a 96/22 is the price.  I've been wanting to buy one to try to build a better looking stock for it.  But $350 is a bit much for a lever .22, especially when I can get a good used Marlin 39A for around $225.  But I keep dreaming--the stock as I described above, with about a 22" or 24" barrel rather than the short carbine barrel, and a case-color lever like on the 96/44's.  That would make a nice handling gun!

I'm really surprised that Ruger's never marketed a rimfire version of the No.1.  After all, Winchester has the 1885 in .22, .22 mag, and .17 HMR.  Savage has them in their Favorite.  Granted it's not a big market, but heck, there's a lot of single-shot shooters out there who love the No. 1.  Personally, I think it could be a big seller.

Oh--I forgot another gun for my Ruger wish list!!!  A .44 mag or .357 mag revolving carbine, based on the Super Blackhawk action!!!!  Color case-hardened frame and curved metal buttplate, wood buttstock, 18 inch barrel!!!!  How many CAS guys would buy those up if offered in .45 LC????  How many of us would buy them if they were offered in .22LR?  Hello Ruger, are you listening???

Well they made one of the guns I was hoping for with the P345.

Now if they would only make a Carbine in the .45ACP chamber to go with it.

I also wish they would update the rest of thier semi auto's to the P345 style frames with the Rail included.

A Mark III chambered for .17 would be sweet as well though One of the gun rags out there says they are prototyping that one already.

Ruger reportedly has been having cycling problems with the 17MachII in their Mark III pistols, otherwise they would have had them out in a Hunter version.

Just as a teaser to the 3-4 of you who's wish list its on:

I HAVE a Ruger No. 1B in 22lr!!!  Yes, it is VERY sweet.  Started out life as a .270.  A fellow in PA did the conversion for my father back in the early '80s...Korsinek, or somehting like that.

Wasn't that .22LR RB featured in an article in one of the Gun Digests about 15 or 20 years ago?  I know it's been done, I have the article somewhere--so just curious if this is the same rifle or another. . .

I'm not sure who you were responding to, but Ruger has never made a No.1 in a rimfire of any kind.

The only "RB" that I am familiar with is the 10/22 RB, and its just the 'plain jane' 10/22 with barrel band, etc...

RT8--I meant 1B, not RB.  Typo.  No, Ruger has never made a No. 1 rimfire, but maybe they should.  The rifle I was referring to in Gun Digest was a custom job, built from a centerfire.

Re-design the Mini-14 for a Heavier barrel which should help resolve accuracy issues.
Forget about the MKIII pistols and stick with the MKII.
A pump-action shotgun available in a HD version. Mossberg would go out of business   .
A Ruger KP90 with alum frame and accessory rails
Or better yet,and all-steel P-series gun   .
A 22 mag version of the MKII.
Option of ordering a rifle that actually comes with iron sights, not just the RSI models  :x .
Redesign SP101 to have a nine-shot 22 lr cylinder and fully-adjustable sights. Also longer barrels with a front sight system like the redhawks and gp's.
When they finish with that I'll come up with more ideas...

I like the way you think.

Here's a few other's I've been thinking about:
-M77RSI in 260 Rem and/or 7mm-08
-Bisley Hunter in 475 Linebaugh (or 480 Ruger if they must)
-Bisley version of the Single Six Hunters
-a stainless No.1B in 280 Rem
-a Redhawk with an L-frame style barrel like Hamilton Bowen builds, 4" (44 mag or 45 Colt)
-double action rimfires based on the Redhawk (maybe a little lighter weight) w/scope rings and L-frame barrel 8 or 9 shot
I guess that's all I can think of for now.

Fat chance. :(

Stainless New Vaquero in 44 WCF, with the correct chamber throat and bore dimensions this time.  If they make the same thing in 38 WCF, I'd buy 4 pistols from them instead of two.

Friendlier triggers on darn near all the firearms made by Ruger.

A stainless Blackhawk (not Super Blackhawk) in 41 mag.

Guns I'd consider buying:
A Ruger stainless/laminate in 458WM. Also love to see a 250Savage and 358Winchester added into the regular line as well as a 358Norma magnum in a stainless/synthetic option. A Ruger No1 "Classic English" chambered in: 350Rigby, 450/400 Nitro Express, 450 Nitro Express, 470 Nitro.... almost consider buying the set!
Cheers...

Wow, I like the English NE #1 idea as well as the 32-20/32H&R combo.

I want a Deefield in 45 Win Mag with a 10 round box mag (I am sure that if it were available, i could get the folding stock and rail mount on the handguard), a #3 in 460 S&W, a 5-shot GP100 in 45 ACP, a factory 5-shot Blackhawk (45 Colt, of course), and in the non-.452 dept., bring back adjustable sight .40 S&W Blackhawk with a .400 Cor-Bon cylinder.

The thought had crossed my mind that if Ruger can make a 4 round mag for the Deerfield, they could get as 5-7 .357 max in a rotary mag and build on the Mini-14 receiver. Of course, there are two .44-.357 wildcats out there already and a barrel change is not out of the realm of possibility for the enthusiast.

I'd like to see a #1V in .308 Win or .30-06 or .300 Win Mag.

My understanding is that it is a more accurate version than the #1B.

Same action and just a slightly different bbl profile than the other variants.  the"V" is just the "B" model with a larger profile barrel. Rifling twists are said to be the same as well.  No reason why the "V" would be inherantly more accurate than the other models.
