Cattails or is it CAT TALE

One for the books to share:

A friend of mine (who shall remain nameless so as not to embarass him) 8) had a sort of unusual experience this morning.

He had a cat set on the edge of an old logging road and when he got to where he could see the set, there was a big old tom bouncing around.  When the cat saw him, it gave a big lunge and popped the drag off where it was hung and with 2 jumps was across the road and off down in a gully full of briars.  My friend was about 50 yards from it when this happened.  Within a couple of seconds, the cat came back up on the road but WITHOUT THE TRAP.  Now armed with only a short barreled 22 pistol, this friend fires at the cat but might have as well been throwing rocks.  Off the cat went!  Now my friend was thinking "CRAP!  lost a good cat and will have to look hard for that trap".  This fellow walks up to where the cat had come back up on the road and he goes off down the gully into the briar patch and gets the surprise of his life.  He hears a growl and sees some briars moving and there is HIS cat hung up.  He dispatches it and then take a few moments to ponder the whole situation.  The big tom had apparently had a also very large female with him.  Next time, this trapper will be carrying a 22 rifle as well. :?   Needless to say, the trap is back in the ground at the same set.  Sure hope he gets that sow cat in the next few days!

So you are going to carry a rifle now ?  You could just learn to shoot a pistol or set two traps like a good ole boy would :)

WQ;
  Actually, there were 2 more sets close by but I guess that old sow was to busy watching tom bounce around and squall at that drag and brush.

  My friend often carries a ruger 10/22 rifle with a scope but left it in the truck.  Older eyes can't see as well as young ones like you whippersnappers.  My friend's arms are not long enough to look down the sights of that pistol very good and hit a cat on the move. :lol:   But what the heck, that sow will be back and if not, then she will have a litter of kittens this spring and that will make more cats there for next season and her NEW boyfriend might be even bigger.  :D

yea maybe a good thing  Joe as those titty sows have poor fur unless  barren which does happen and you think you have a Tom  untill you look and  are surprised.  If  mama was that big then good as she can throw some big toms for better prices providing  they have clear bellys

Joe did Wacky Dillo ever  mention the time he actually shot a yote!  It seems he missed but the riccochet  nailed the yote!  Around  Corrales New Mexico it is the talk of the town in the resturants  in the mornings  :lol:

  I bet he had to use that 11-87 shoot'em up gun he talks about. :)
