it depends on the gun. i have three 44 specials on the mid frame blackhawk platform, 1 old model with the xr3red grip frame 1 new model with the xr3 grip frame and one that i am slowly turning into a number five. i have two old model 357s on the same frame and and one of the 50th anny flattops in 357. if the two are built on the same frame with all else being equal but the hole in the barrel, the 357 will be a heavier gun. with 250s out of the 44 special at 1000 fps and 158s out at 1200 i cant tell a difference. the special becomes interesting when you add that 200 fps though especialy in a gun that weighs 37 or so ounces. like all things when shooting is concerned if you handload, you can make recoil whatever you want it to be,
