Dukk,

I think many will overlook marital issues in order to evict Obummer.  I know I am overlooking them.  I am a conservative, my interest is conserving America and its true meaning and heritage.

This is not new to politics it has always gone on and most likely will . When some think they are smarter and have power they think they are entitled to have more than one woman to satisfy their "need" . It is wrong make no mistake but the real problem is the lack of discression by the media and others. Do we really need the sex lives of leaders aired across the world ? Does it make America look good ? Consider the sex industry is one of the largest in the country with its breeding a lack of morals is it any wonder these things exist ? If so many are less moral is it really going to cause him problems ? Or will it attract more voters hoping he will open the sex industry to more proffit and sin ?

What's that old saw about "to err is human, to forgive devine?"
There was another one some ol guy said about "let ye without sin cast the first stone"
An ex wife, and a news reporter that was fired and nearly banned for placing explosives in Chevy pickups to make them look like they explode in wrecks , isn't exactly my idea of solid information.
In the 1920's "sheeple" was a term coined by the National Socialist Party in Germany to describe people that would not vote for Hitler. In the 1930's they held Hitler as the only one that would bring pride back to Germany and bring the budget and economy back.....

Let's be fair...he is accused of wanting an open marriage.  Now, I've been married to the same fine lady for 55 years..but I understand that when a divorce occurs, sometimes ex-husbands or ex-wives will accuse their former spouse of all kinds of nasty things..  Is that correct ?  You who may have suffered through a divorce: should your ex-wife's complaints rule your future ?
Interesting to note Newt's daughter tells a very different story than her mother.  http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2012/01/newts-ex-wife-unloads-to-abc/

Especially interesting is ABC "by coincidence" digging up debatable "facts" concerning Gingrich on the eve of the South Carolina primary.   Where was ABC when John Kerry's "swiftboaters" were around, or when John Edward's aide showed up pregnant, or even when Obama's birthplace & nationality were in question ?  Journalistic purity...I guess...   Can we in any way expect ABC to be "fair & balanced" in this interview ?

Incidently;  Some news sources said Newt divorced his wife while she was on her death bed, suffering from terminal cancer.  None of that was true, she had a run-of-the-mill tumor removed.

I do not care about anyone's marriage.  It's not my business, and I haven't worried about other people's business since I started becomming an adult and I had my own business to worry about.  I didn't care about Bill Clinton, I didn't care about John Edwards, I don't care about Newt.

But I do care about the character of the people who are elected to represent me.  And what each of the people above have done in their personal lives reflects a weakness of character to me.  Good people don't cheat on their wife, because it hurts people they claim to care about.  It is also revealing about the seriousness with which they take their own credibility.  It's not my job to judge, but it is my job to decide who best reflects the values I care about, and to what degree I believe the things that person is telling me...

What we have for a fact,  is a divorce..is divorce alone enough to disqualify ?  For some it is; each it appears, has to decide for him/her self.
Concerning "conservative votes"...by election day it will come down to 1 of 4 men.... vs Obama.  Then you will have to decide which one the conservative should vote for...simply to rescue the country...

What it boils down to is wheather or not we judge him or allow God to judge him on his deeds with his wives. We should judge him on his past political record and how he stacks up to the others. To me it will entail holding my nose but that would be the case with most running this time.

Shootall; for me ...agreed.  He is not the establishment pick, but that is OK.    While it is not likely Ron Paul will be the nominee, he has earned a spot to be a player..he has a chance to get some of his desires honored at the convention...or he could run as a 3rd party.  Question is; will he accept "half a loaf" or insist on being a destroyer ?   I think he will take half a loaf; he's not stupid, but to the contrary, he's an intelligent man..  I also hope whoever gets the nod, he will gain wisdom from each of the other conservative representatives, as all have some good ideas

I agree we should judge him as well as his character on his past political record. I won't have to hold my nose when voting in the primaries.Paul's record smells like roses compared to the others.

Served his country in the military, married to the same woman he started with, and has a pure Constitutional voting record.Doesn't get much better than that IMO ;)

That got me thinking.
Wouldn't it a great idea to put some sort of agreed upon time limit subject to renewal if so desired on a marriage license?

Newt is not getting my vote, and it ain't because of a divorce. Speaking of ones character, I agree fully that ones character is very important when it comes to voting for someone, and I see Ron Paul as having the best character of the lot. In my opinion, by a long shot.

While Newt is not my choice, I have some problems with his Ex wife's discription.

An open marriage is where both members are free to go and do what ever.  Both are able to go out and have affairs.  What she explained is that Newt just wanted her to allow him to have an affair, and for her to just share him between her and his mistress.  This is not an Open Marriage.  Plus MaryAnn was a mistress whilt Newt was married to his first wife Jackie.  This is nothing but Sour Grapes.  Newt has already said he has asked for forgiveness and he feels he has been forgiven.  So this is in the past.  Nuf Said.

But, so what.  Many men and women both quietly have affairs, and no one ever hears about it, or knows about it, or cares.  Many Presidents have had affairs while in office.  It did not affect their ability to be president.   Moral Standards is something every one has to set for themselves.  While you may want others to accept your standards, you can not force or expect every one to look at morality the same way you do.

One of the most miserable times I remember about my childhood was when My Mother loaded all us kids (three) up in the 1955 Ford, so she could drive my Aunt Annie around, following Annie's husband.  They just knew he was having an affair.  They caught him, and Annie and him got a divorce.   Then Annie convinced my Mom that my Dad was also having an affair(missery loves company).  So here we go again, following my Father around on his route, thinking he was having an affair.  After several weeks she gave up.  Not that she was convinced he was not having an affair, but that she just would not be able to catch him.

When Dad was in his mid 70s he came up to Alaska to visit and go hunting.  I told him about Mom loading us up to follow him around.  Dad laughed, he said one night Annie had insinuated he was doing the same as Ed, so he was expecting them to feel he was doing the same as Ed.  So when Mom started following him around, he was expecting it and saw the car right off.  So he did things to make it hard for Mom to follow him.  He would change his route around every week and not make the same stops every week in the same order.

Then one day Dad set her up.  Knowing Mom is a very aggressive woman, he met his Grandma at Walgreens lunch counter for lunch.  Grandma Simpson was in on it and kept herself sort of hidden so she would not be recognized.  As Dad sat down he leaned over and gave Grandma a kiss.  I'll never forget Mom calling that woman names, and flying out of that car.  Slamming the door so hard she knocked the window off it's tracks.  Into Walgreens she went.  When she came back out she was quite, Mad as all getout, but quite.  Soon after that she quite following Dad around.  Dad told me he never had time to have an affair, plus he knew Mom would have shot him if she ever found out he was messing around.
Where is old Joe when we really need him?  Alaska Independence    Calling Illegal Immigrants "Undocumented Aliens" is like calling Drug Dealers "Unlicensed Pharmacists"

A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' As someone who is divorced I could care less about what happened in Newt's marriage.

What I do care about is his poor voting record on gun control bills. That alone will make me not vote for him if he gets the nomination.

His Marriages are his business, However when they bleed over into politics then it's a problem for me personally.

Newt does have a huge character flaw. This is a man who pursued the Impeachment of Clinton for his Affair all the while he was having one of his own. Newt is a hypocrite of the highest caliber.

Ron Paul did say he was personaly against abortion, but he strongly believes it is a states rights issue, not a federal one.  I can agree with that, because most states would eventually make it illegal at least partially illegal.

I see some are jumping up just as John King did last night. Not asking any real questions but making an accusation with a question.  John King got just what anybody who wants to take for gospel truth, the accusations of a bitter ex-wife should get !
There are 2 sides to any story, and it appears that those closest to Newt and his ex-wife are backing Newt's side.  Man, I would hate to be an innocent party and have some of you guys for a jury.  I could be the straightest cop who ever lived and you would take a crack dealers word that I had roughed him up !

Like many, I won't judge the man based on hearsay...

I would like to point out that we have had many Presidents that have had mistresses and more suspected...

Seems I remember David having a few as well............
