Removed Pin/Broke Collar
« on: January 19, 2012, 01:31:00 PM »
I know this has got to be a stupid question.  There is a pin with a colar or donut that goes in the gun where barrel attaches to receiver.  The donut broke causing pin to slip out.  I noticed this when i couldnt close barrel.  I removed fore-end screw and removed barrel to remove broke obstruction and put barrel back on receiver and fore-end screw.  The gun looks fine.  It is sb2 45/70.  Heres the question......can I shoot the gun with these two parts missing?  How much for this donut part?  Thanks...

I'm having trouble visualizing the parts you're referring to, a picture would help a lot.  As a guess it sounds like the pin and collar are part of the ejector/extractor  in the lug of the barrel.  The larger pin that actually retains the barrel to the action has no collar.  Either a picture to help us out here and check how your weapon functions.  Don't mean to sound little on this, there are no spare parts and if something has broken you should be able to troubleshoot and see what's no longer functioning correctly and replace or have replaced those parts.

guess you type faster than I Jason!  ;D

I would think its the big pin in extractor and the little pin is still holding the rest in there put a shell in it and see if it ejects

The gun can dry fire.  Nothing wronf with extractor or hammer or open and close of weapon.  Pretty sure these parts have to do with barrel.

Handi 7,

The pins looks like the roll pin that trips your ejector or extractor when you open the gun.  Go to the FAQs sticky and ctrl "f" search for ejector or extractor if that is what you have and there are pictures of all the pieces in the under lug of handi barrel.  Good luck.
