That is a bunch of BS! The kid wanted it and the mother approved. It should not even be investigated. My daughter wanted a tattoo for her 15th birthday. I said no but between her and her mother I was talked into it as long as I went along with them to the tattoo place and approved the tat. I also said as a condition it could not be anywhere that could not be covered in clothing because of work later in her life. I also made them agree that it needed to be no bigger than a silver dollar. She ended up getting a tasteful tattoo of a heart with wings below her neck and between her shoulder blades. The guy did a very nice job and it has grown on me. Dale

I don't think a minor should be able to get a tattoo.  21% of those who get them contract Hep C and don't even know it until their liver is gone.

Swamp - do you have facts to back it up?  Not challenging I just really want to know - I have wondered if the tat industry takes potential disease seriously enough.  For a bunch of reasons I have no interest in body ink especially on me or my family.  Some of the tatted people I see look like walking grafitti and I wonder if they'll still think its cool when they're in old age.


I've known 3 women and one guy who contracted Hep C through surgery and it is/was hell on them.  One local lady got some sort of treatment that cured her but it was a very rugged go. The other local guy died from it - pretty horribly too.  Our lawyer has it and sometimes she looks like a puff of air would knock her over - she's skinny as a high fashion model but not because she wants to be. Lost track of my wife's co-worker but she would have weeks where she couldn't get out of bed.  All these folks are really good people too.

21 percent is the number the Red Cross gave when I took first aid training.  In fact I look for tattoos when deciding on what to do with an injuried person.

I have NEVER seen a tat that made anybody look better. If you get one make sure you want it cause it'll still be there the day  you die. I hate them. Quickest way to ugly up a pretty girl is to give her some ugly ----- tats or pins, wires, and tacks in her face. POWDERMAN.

Swampi is right about the Hep C.  My wife contracted it from we don't know where.  It sometime takes 20 years for it to appear.  In my youth, neither doctors nor dentists were aware it exhisted, and I suspect a lot of people contracted it there.  Now way would I trust a tatoo parlor to properly autoclave instruments.
 
Sharon went through 48 weeks of chemo to put the virus in remission, at great personal and financial cost...and it could come back at any time.  There is no "cure".  They just hope to get the virus down to uncountable levels.
 
I also am against pre teens getting piercings, etc. from  undocumented sources.  Same danger.  It's just not worth the risk.

Don't even get me started on the piercings!!! She wanted a nose ring like a little diamond stud. I threw a fit about it and told her that her face would be scared for life. There was just no way that was going to happen period. Da;e

Tattoo schmattoo! The kid was already heavily disadvantaged by the parents long before this. The ghetto names guarantee reduced opportunities in e workforce because it is well known that people with ghetto names are weeded out before they even get an interview in many cases. Then theres the violent neigborhood and probable single mother welfare status of the parent. You can hide a tattoo. You cant hide all those other things. They are part of who he is.
