Israelis to Obama: We don’t trust you

- Jerry Philipson Thursday, January 19, 2012 Austere Challenge 12 was supposed to take place at the end of April and was going be the largest joint U.S./Israeli war game in history. The game was two years in the planning and was massive in size and scope and thousands of American military personnel and various U.S. missile defense systems were going to be deployed in Israel. To quote the Jerusalem Post “The drill was supposed to include the simulation of various missile defense scenarios with the objective of creating a high level of interoperability so that, if needed, US missile defense systems would be able to deploy in Israel and work with local defense systems during a future conflict.”

The game was abruptly cancelled three days ago and senior U.S. and Israeli defense officials were surprised and taken aback by the cancellation. No one really knows who cancelled the game or why it was cancelled in the first place and speculation is rife about what was behind the decision.
Some say President Obama was behind the cancellation because Israel’s Deputy Prime Minister criticized his commitment to keeping nuclear weapons out of Iran’s hands. Some say Israel cancelled the game as a message to Obama to get serious about stopping Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and that it was telling the White House it will act alone to deal with the Iranian threat if need be. Some say Obama was angry because he thinks Israel views him as a one term President and is not showing enough deference and respect for his liking. Some say Israel cancelled the game because the Israelis have given up on Obama and are planning a unilateral attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities and don’t want to complicate matters.

There are many other possible explanations as well.
There is one possible explanation for the cancellation that no one has mentioned in all the speculation, however.
Trust.
Remember interoperability? The Israelis don’t trust Obama to keep its military secrets secret and don’t want to reveal the innermost workings of their missile defense systems to him, which the game would require them to do. Obama’s antipathy towards Israel and proclivity towards Iran is well known and well documented and the Israelis may think that giving Obama too clear a picture of how their systems work would be detrimental to Israel because Obama would somehow use the information against them.
The Israelis don’t trust Obama, for very good reasons. That’s why the game was cancelled. The Israelis said to Obama “the game can’t go on because we don’t trust you”.
Nor should they.
(Nor should anyone else either, Americans included.)

Later reporting confirmed the Patriots were a German shipment going to South Korea.  End use monitoring of items such as Patriot missiles would prevent the Israelis or anyone else from selling them without US permission.

I dont know why the exercise was cancelled, but the US knowing Israeli missile defense secrets isnt the reason.  The Juniper series exercises have been going on with Israel for years and many deal with missile defense.  It didnt make the news much, but during OIF the US deployed several Patriot batteries to Israel to defend them in case Iraq attacked with missiles.  The US already knows all we need to know about Israeli missile defense operations.

Maybe Isreal does not want to get it's troops tied up with a big exercise, when they may be needed somewhere else.  Like in cleaning up in Iran, tieing up loose ends, removing any threats left.
 
Obama has proven to be untrustworthy, so he will not be getting any information of their plans.  Once they decide to respond, no one will know till after it has happened, the way it should be.  No CNN camaras on the ground, or embedded with the troops.  Gives the troops laditude to do what needs to be done with out world condemnation. 
 
Like Black Jack Pershing, the Isrealies know how to handle Muslims.  Just keep the world out of their business.

I'd imagine it was cancelled to keep the libbies from accusing us of baiting the iranian scum into a confrontation. POWDERMAN.

I don't think this missle case has gone away as many hope, and I don't think the Finns are releasing the 69 missiles which are reportedly of top shelf versions not for resale..doesn't any re-sale have to be approved by the US Congress, too.  Still waiting for serial number verifications who originally got the missles....and where is the associated hardware/software?.....

- The Israeli sale to China story doesnt hold up for allot of reasons, most of all because it doesnt make any sense.  US end use monitoring of all Patriot missiles sold to allies would show them to be missing if sold without permission.  And if Israel was selling them to China they wouldnt toss them on a liner service vessel so the missiles could end up in several third party ports where they could be detected, they would have sent the ship directly to the port of debarkation.
