Blackhawk .44 mag for Deer
« on: January 20, 2012, 10:52:34 PM »
Bought an old ugly Mosin for $25 while back. Cleaned up, camo paint and cheap bi-pod. Traded it out to a DW .357 2 1/2" fixed barrel. Cant use that for hunting. So this last week had a chance to swap even for a nice Rugar Blackhawk .44 mag 7" barrel. Last couple years most deer have been around 50 yds or closer. So thought is I may carry this as an option with my Handi's (if my boy is done drooling by then ;D )

The earlier pic of your DW was nice, but now you have something of more use to you.I had a 15-2 6inch I should have kept, but like you I traded it away, for a shotgun I had to have. You will enjoy your revolver, and it is potent on shortshot deer.

I did love everything about the Dan Wesson, except the 2 1/2" barrel. I fund a Indiana rifle project. But when the neighbor offered the trade, and I can use it for deer. I thought what the heck. Plus the DW just moved next door. So iffen it goes on the market I will be the first offered ;)

Hey Lonny, if I send you an old rusty piece of pipe how long before you can trade it up to a Kimber 45 for me ;D

Sounds like you done good. First time I shot a 44 mag many years ago it was a friends Super Blackhawk. I was impressed, it shot VERRY good. It was awesome power back then 8)

That will be fun to take a deer with ;)

PS Maybe I can trade you a hat for it ::) ;D

Will see what I can do about the pipe to Kimber conversion ;)

I will have to practice(a lot) with the Rugar this summer. It is a handful to say the least. Going to find some better grips that should help.

I seen a poor skunk smooshed on the road yesterday. First thing that came to mind was a hat ;D

Good trading! let me know when you get tired of that Blackhawk slapping you around. I will find a good use for it and probably even give you $35-$40 for it. ;D

Thanks, Dinny
