That's a rough one. My two favorite Clint westerns. I would have to go with unforgiven only cause I've seen oalerider a million more times.

Not AMC would be my deciding factor.

I am glad they show some good titles but spending the last hour watching forty minutes of commercials is a deal breaker most of the time. I know they have to keep the lights burning but dang, they sure drag out that last hour.

Go get a copy of the first season of Deadwood - then watch the other two...

I'm working on the second season now. I need to get the third one ordered. Fantastic series, even with the language.

Anything with Clint is good but I like some of his other movies over the two mentioned.

Try out "Justified" starrring Tim Olyphant from "Deadwood". It's not a western but it is in the gunslinger genre. Good series also.

That's what I like about DISH, when something like this happens I put the one I want to watch on "PAUSE," while I go to the extra bedroom turn the TV on there and record the other one to view later..........then I can watch it one one of those dull days when there is nothing else to watch.

My wife also does this, she will record in the master bedroom while we are watching something wlse in the den, then she can watch the "girlie" stuff whien I'm gone.

That would have made me mad... trying to decide between those two.  They are both among my favorites so I guess I would have had to flip a coin.

I used to think PR was my favorite but Unforgiven is actually a better movie IMO due to character development and a deeper more complicated feel to the characters.

Buy em both on DVD like I did and you can watch them any time you want.
Come to think of it, I have ALL of the Clint Eastwood westerns on DVD.  Great ideas for Christmas lists.  That's where mine all came from.

I especially like the last scene in the saloon--when he is coming out and tell everybody within earshot that if they do anything he will kill the, kill his wife, kill their kids, kill their friends and kill their dog----or something alongthat order.
I laugh everytime.

I will go with Unforgiven.  Old Clint is hard to beat, but he definitely got better in his character as he got older.  Just like the Duke did.

Speaking of the Duke and old westerns, has anyone seen the remake of "True Grit"?  I thought that was great!  It's hard enough to find a western movie these days, much less a GOOD western.

I got that one for Christmas this year and I've probably watched it four or five times over already.

I will go with Unforgiven.  Old Clint is hard to beat, but he definitely got better in his character as he got older.  Just like the Duke did.

I'd opt for The Unforgiven, but I think The Outlaw Josey Wales was the best of the bunch.

Eastwood is a left wing life long antigun Hollywood actor. I would not as a gun owner watch any of his work. ???

Seems unbelievable since he made so many movies with guns.  Has anyone done a "snopes" on this?

I've seen it... he's still Sheriff Bullock, now in the 21st century after a bit of anger management :)

I thought that Margo Martindale as Mags Bennett was fantastic... hated to see here character go. "It was already in the glass..."

I would try other sources.  If you have to rely on Snopes, just remember the sources ownership.

When I see and hear him say he's anti gun then I'll believe it. Untill then it's nothing more than just another rumour spread by those who make a living spreading rumours.

I have seen it written that he considers himself a libertarian although I also saw written that he is a vegan and supported Obama in the last election so its anyone's guess. If he is anti gun at least I have never seen him prancing around in favor of gun control like some hollyweird types have done. Me? I still like most of his movies and I hope he does one more western before he dies.

The only thing I have read is that he dislikes smoking and hats, figure that one out when in his movies he is doing one or the other and sometimes both. I've never heard any type of comments about him in regaurds to guns or weapons. The way he was portayed in movies it looked like he was very familar with them, what he did with them also made him a rich man.

Quoting from his biography:   http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000142/bio

I've always supported a certain amount of gun control. I think California has always had a mandatory waiting period, so we were never concerned about it like the rest of the country. Some states didn't have any at all. So I've always supported that. I think it's very important that guns don't get in the wrong hands, and, yes, I would support most of that. I don't know too much about trigger locks. I've never really discussed that with anyone. But I do feel that guns - it's very important to keep them out of the hands of felons or anyone who might be crazy with it.

The site also says he is not a vegetarian, but eats a low fat diet.
