holster n ammo for LCP

My first post here. just got a Ruger LCP 380. So what is a good pocket holster and what is the best ammo for defense for this pistol.

My uncle just got one of those.  Neat little gun.  He has a Galco holster that worked well when I tried it.  The holster stayed in the pocket and the gun came out.  Reholster with the holster out of your pocket!  Here in CA the wallet holsters that the gun mounts in are illegal but look like a wallet in your pocket.  Check local laws before mounting your LCP in one.
Ammo, there is a huge question.  My father took my Sig P230 with him on his last trip and I sent a bunch of ammo later.
He asked why I had so many different types.  My answer was for him to shoot some of all of it.  I know what I liked and what I carried and what would work and feed when I shot it.  He needed to shoot a mag of each and see what he wanted to keep in the gun.
I liked the Remington 102 Grain golden sabers.  But try them as well as the Federal Hydroshocks, Win Silver tips and SXT, and any other rounds you come across you want to try.
Before I carried my 230 I put 500 rounds through it of FMJ and at least 100 of JHP loads before I considered it as a self protection gun.

cagoat:  I have friends with those little LCPs and they love'm.  Most simply go with a Uncle Mike's pocket holster - soft ballistic nylon that breaks up the outline of the pistol and iirc both carry in their hip pocket.  One also has a off side iwb holster that he clips inside his left breast pocket (he is right handed and the holster is left handed and it positions the pistol properly in his breast pocket for very easy access).
 
Ammo:  I seriously doubt you will get enough from such a short barrelled pistol to make hollowpoints or softnosed slugs worth the $ or time.  Plain ball ammo is about the best load you can find for short barrelled semi-autos and the best two factory loads I have found for the 380 are the Sellier and Bellot 95 gn ball and the Winchester 95 gn fmj - the S&B load is plain jane roundball and the Winchester is a fmj-fp.  I use the S&B but that is only because I have not yet sprung for some of the Winchester fodder.  HTH.

I like mine. I carry it in a Nemesis holster and load with Hornady ammo. functions with everything, reloads, ball, jhps.

I really like his designs and especially the material used.    I haven't carried a .380 in years, hopefully new bullet designs will allow BOTH expansion and sufficient penetration-I used to use FMJ only since in the off chance a HP bullet moving at .380 speed did expand, they lacked suitable penetration.

The Hornady Critical Defense loads shoot well out of my PPK/S. From their video it seems like it was designed to prevent the lack of pennetration vs lack of expansion dilemna of the 380. Here's the link, check out the video:

I don't think so. The Zombie ammo appears to be intended for varmints and target. I'm not sure how a jury would view "Zombie" rounds if it was used in a self defense shooting.

I use a pocket Galco holster, and Hornady CD ammo for my LCP.

I use a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster for mine, and use 90 gr. Gold Dots.

 I like the Nemesis pocket holster too for my LCP. I also like the Speer 90 grn GD's for carry.

There is allot of semi hot .380 ammo out there. Hornady CD is a good one. Buffalo Bore  90 grain HP are over 1000 FPS, Corbon 80 gran DPX, and my favorite Doubletap 95 grain at 974 fps out of the LCP.

I've been trying out some of the CorBon 80gr. DPX loads, they looked promising on one of the shooting shows. They were testing the loads out of a LCP, good expansion and penetration.
