How Much Would You Pay?
« on: January 22, 2012, 06:00:11 AM »
To trap a wolf? Seems like Minnesota may finally allow the taking of wolves.
My question to you--how much money would you spend--to trap, 1 wolf?
Personally, I probably wouldn't bother traveling to catch a single wolf, and I sure wouldn't pay 50 bucks to do so.

If you are a non resident of MN and you own land in MN you  will be able to harvest a wolf! If you dont own land in MN and are a non resident, you cant harvest a wolf.    So.... as far as here in WI. , i have trapped  enough wolves and released .  As what will happen in WI. , dont know but if you trap any amount of yotes , you will snag a wolf now and then.  Now with ol Boggy if there  werent any rats or bvr and wolves were worth a couple hundred bucks, Boggy WOULD be trapping wolves..... especially if he wanted the bvr population to increase!

Like Lee said I guess I won't know about MN even though it would be close for me. As for here in WI I would love to trap at least one to hang on the wall. Don't think I'd care to pay any more for a wolf though than we now do for permit applications for other critters. Don't wnat to see Wolves turn into a for profit deal for the state.  We should just be able to take what the quota gets set at like bears, bobcats, otter, fisher or bluegills for that matter.

RdFx, releasing a trapped wolf must be a heck of a rush.  Ever have any close calls doing so?

98%  of the wolves when you touch them with  the catch pole they drop right down and are submissive BUT the other 2 % can be hell....lol....when you get a big male in the 90# range they can really throw their weight around with plenty of big teeth...LOL

Lee,it would take more than $200.00 to get me after wolves. The way it will probably be set up --a trophy animal only--limit 1.
I have a lot of wolves on my northern beaver line.I have their tracks in my castor mounds all the time, I have also had them sit and watch me,when I am trapping.
They sure haven't had an impact on the beaver in the area I trap.,

Thanks for the info RdFx.  That must really get the blood pumping.  So, when you release them from the noose, I imagine 100% just run off?  You know, no hard feelings.    ;D
