Nice pair Swampi!  Even with all the new super duper mags, the 44 mag. is still hard to beat!

The more powerful cartridges are mostly chambered in guns that are either ugly or too heavy or both IMO.

I use the rod & the Mitchel 308 reel.  The kreel is just a decoration for my man cave.

I know what you mean. I have a set of Claro walnut burl that are close to being done on my shop bench that I have not been able to get back to. They are for a custom stainless Vaguero and should look good when done. I found some maple burl at one of the woodworkers shops that is also beutiful. If you go by Rocklers shops, check them out. They get some nice woods in.
