CVA shotgun
« on: January 23, 2012, 10:05:37 AM »
Before I start, I know nothing of traditional firearms. That being said, I am here to learn some.

Today I picked up a CVA double barrel black powder 12 ga shotgun. It has a duck and flowers engraved(stamped) on the side plates. Looks like someone at one time took possibly steelwool to the barrels. The wood has kind of ribs very shallow. Like maybe roughcut and not sanded smooth. Hard to discribe. Will try to get some pics up. I did a google and come up with nothing. Curious of possible age. Or where to look for more about it.

By the way, it will not be shot while living here ;) . I got it because it is a cool looking gun. Will end up being my wall hanger :)

Just found out you are exactly right. It is a preccusion shotgun kit, from around the mid 80s. Oh well I did not give much for it. So I will clean it and will be my wall hanger.

I had never seen one before. The couple folks I have shown it to had no clue either. So I will tell anyone asking yup mid 1800's LOL

Some SXS CVA's - the Stagecoach 20's have been around since the very early 70's; The Frontier 12's were added to their line a couple of years later but both were discontinued mid 70's.   In the 80's they added the BrittanyII 410 - maybe they also brought back the Frontier.
Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus
