just order a ruger 77 mark2 in 243 win , 26 inch barrel has a 1 in 9 twist,  whats a good bullet weight bullet to start with

What ya looking at hunting with it,I load for 2 both with 95gr nosler balistic tip and 41gr imr4350 for deer.

The 100 grain Nosler Partition shoots very accurately in my .243.  I use 41.5 grains of IMR 4350.  I also load a 70 grain Nosler Ballistic tip load I use for predator hunting This load uses IMR 4064. These loads shoot to the same POI so I can use them interchageably in the field without scope zero issues. I live in Commiefornia so I alsohave a 85 grain Barnes TSX load. The .243 is a very cooperative caliber when it comes to developing accurate loads.

I'm sorry   but mostly I will be shooting mostly at targets 1 to 3 hundred yards, woodchucks and crows

Mine likes 87gr Hornady HPs and the Sierra 75grHPs. Either of them will make a groundhog or crow lay down and hush!

My old 700 remington and handi has always prefered the 70gr bullets to the smaller 55gr ones.  My 700 has a 1-9.25 twist while the handi has a 1-10(I think).  I have had good luck with both the 70gr ballistic tips(very explosive) and the 70gr sierra matchkings(cheaper) but both were easy to find accurate loads for.  I've narrowed my selection down to 100gr speer grand-slams for deer and the 70gr sierra matchkings for the fact in my 700 I found loads to shoot to the same point of aim so I don't have to adjust my scope when switching from varmint/practice loads to deer loads, I got lucky.    Buy your self some varget and load up some 70/75gr bullets that won't break the bank and 300yd chucks will be easy pick'n.

               With a 26"  1" in 9" twist barrel I'd give the 107 A-Max a try .

I also will have to vote for the 100 gr Nosler Partition for deer I worked up a load year before last for my daughter in a savage 111 and came to almost the exact same load with one inch 100 yard average groups.  To test the loads I shot a 120 pound doe and a 200 pound pig, both died in thier tracks with complete broadside pass throughs.  Now if I can just get her to shoot something live with it. (she doesnt want to shoot a doe or a small buck and continues to let them walk i think to frustrate me)

Try the 70 gr. SMK bullets. They make a grreat varment bullet and have been very accurate for me. If your not happy with the accuracy seat the bullets out alittle farther and try again.

I've shot the SPEER 70 grain TNT for years. Accuracy is good and lots of downrange performance on live targets.  I've been using 760 but am going to try some H4895 in the near future.
