H+R MODEL HK4
« on: January 24, 2012, 02:25:47 PM »
HI,new member from Louisiana.
My brother in law has acquired his dad's h+r model hk4 gun.It is marked 1871-1971
the gun has no caliber marked on it. We could use some help with this. Also he would like
to find the single piece grips for it if anyone knows where. The bore looks like a 32 cal?
Any help would be appreciated.

The HK4's were chambered in .22LR, .25ACP, .32ACP, and .380ACP.   H&R imported them from Heckler and Koch.

What material is he looking for in a grip?  Wood, plastic, some other?

As chefjeff mentioned above - it's a 100 year commemorative.  That would make it 1971, give or take 1 year for pre-year ramp-up, and post-year ramp-down.

Are you sure the chambering isn't stamped?   If it is .32cal it should have "7.65x17SR" or "7.65" marked on the barrel right at the chamber.  Lots of guns just don't have the frame or slide marked, rather they are marked on the barrel.   Some guns you have to take apart to see it.

Here is what you are looking for:

Also, I think the H&R 100yr commemoratives were only .380ACP.  So if it is .32cal, someone may have changed the barrel and mag(s).
