A great man was laid to rest today next to LaDonna P. Beutler (who passed in December 2007).   They had shared 59 years of their lives together marreid after being childhood sweethearts before the war.   

 
He was an exceptional husband, father and friend; athlete, coach, athletic director and outdoorsman well known for his hard work ethics, honesty, integrity, kindness and always extending a helping hand to anyone in need; and was a Seabee hero in the front lines at the invasion of Iwo Jima and Nagasaki.   
 
He will be missed by the thousands that simply called him “Don”.   
 
Goodbye father.  Rest in the peace you so much desired and deserved.
