Growing up we had them separated. But had black and yellow together.  Now I have reds established and have ordered black to plant in the spring.  From what I read they should be 300 ft apart so as to not disease each other.  Guess I'll be taking a chance as mine will be about 10 ft apart as I have a small yard and there is no other place to plant them.  If I hose it up I will make a decision to go with one or the other and be happy.

I don't have any raspberrys planted, but I have seen black and red planted side by side other places and the color didn't change in the berry.

Whether the taste changes is another story and I don't have that answer.  It is possible.

I do have wild ones growing next to my garden and they aren't all that prolific.  I like having them around and it may be time to get some others.  As long as they don't over-run the place, which is easy for raspberrys to do.
